FRONT END INSPECTOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES
• Check conformance of pipe ends out of roundness in accordance with
project spec.
• Randomly check magnetism on pipe ends with gauss meter.
• Check for any bevel damage, randomly check the squareness
• Check the long seam orientation
• Check Hi-Lo shall not exceed 1.6mm
• Monitor Internal cleaning activity.
• Verify the marking of Joint numbers on end of pipe externally.
• Check for approved WPS & Welder (Operator) are employed for welding.
• Check pre-heat temperature comply with WPS requirement at regular
intervals.
• Ensure welding consumables are stored, handled and used in accordance
with approved procedure.

BACK END INSPECTOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor welding parameters at all welding stations at regular intervals &
prepare welding audit reports per shift.
• Ensure all repair areas are properly & clearly marked in the right locations.
• Document the repair on to the pipeline welding summary and regular
inspection reports after completion.
• Visual Inspection of capping reinforcement, profile & surface defects, as
per ISO 13847 -2000 Section 9.3
• Sign reports electronically for visual at the end of each shift on pipeline
certification system.

COATING INSPECTOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor External FJC activities including
surface preparation, qualification of
personnel.
• Carry out external FJC visual & witness holiday
testing.
• Sign reports electronically for coating at the
end of each shift on pipeline certification
system.

OTHER IMPORTANT POINTS - GENERAL
Internal line up clamp shall only be removed after 100% completion of
rootpass.
After final welding completed and weld visually accepted, welds shall be
cooled with fresh water spray for AUT purpose
Repair of cracks are not permitted.
Visual inspection shall be carried out on the external surface to ensure
that surface is free from porosity, spatter and any other defects.
AUT shall be carried out for all completed welds.
Manual UT shall be carried out on repair welds in addition to re-AUT
verification.
Dry Powder MPI shall be carried out on the repair excavated area prior to
starting repair welding.

OTHER IMPORTANT POINTS - GENERAL
All welding parameter shall strictly as per approved WPS
Any welding deviate from the approved WPS subject to immediate stop and bring to
attention of concerned party.
2 times repair only allowed.
Preheat shall be monitor with temperature indicator crayons or digital devises at station 1
prior to root pass by pipeline spacer. (welding supervisor shall responsible to perform this
and QC has to closely monitor)
