MD Saiful Islam submitted a report on nozzle flow to Rajesh Sharkar at Sonargaon University for the subject ME362. The report discusses that a nozzle is a tapering tube used to accelerate fluid flow by reducing pressure, working by the principle that fluid pressure decreases as velocity increases when passed through a constriction. Nozzles are used to regulate fluid flow from hoses or pipes. They are more compact than other flow measurement devices and have a higher flow coefficient, but cannot be used for low pressure applications as they lack a divergent outlet for pressure recovery.

Nozzle Flow What is the nozzle flow?
A device used to measure the flow rate of fluids in a pipe or
conduit. Working Principle of nozzle flow • A nozzle is a device used for acceleration the fluid flow at the expense of fluid pressure. It is basically a tapering tube, with the outlet diameter lesser than the inlet diameter. There is however another device called the diffuser which is exactly the opposite of nozzle. it increases fluid pressure and decelerates the flow. Application of nozzle flow • Nozzles are used to regulate the flow of substances. They are found at the tip of a hose or pipe from which liquid or gas substances are discharged. ADVANTAGE & DISADVANTAGES • Advantages of nozzle flow:-
Compact- low dimension as compared
to venturimeter. High coefficient of discharge than the orifice meter.
Disadvantages of nozzle flow:-
It has no divergent outlet and hence low- pressure recovery.
