Unit Plan

Unit planning recognizes that learning is most effective when it considers wholes rather than fragments, allows for vertical and horizontal organization over time, and involves students in understanding and accepting goals to be achieved through participation in the planning process. It also recognizes individual differences in learning rates and interests, so a variety of assignments are planned for both individuals and groups. Finally, unit planning aims to increase student self-direction over time by gradually shifting responsibility to students for selecting, organizing, and evaluating their own learning experiences.
