RITES OR RITUAL DANCES
Are still being performed because they
serve the belief and social systems .
Givesexpression and solace and
sometimes courage and determination.
Accompanied by action, movements,
motives and spirits that inspire them.
 Expressive forms and religious
orientations.
(People fear and revere the spirits that
dwell in nature “diwata” and ancestors
“anito”)
 Accompanied by a Babaylan (shaman).
 They honor spirits, ask blessings and
for healings or development.
EXAMPLES:
Pagdiwata of the Tagbanua of
Palawan (thanksgiving dance)
Talip of Ifugao (courtship dance)
Pandamgo of Matigsalug (dance
for development)
