Introduction To Basic Electrical and Electronics Engineering

This document provides an overview of basic electrical and electronics engineering concepts including Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's laws, series and parallel resistor circuits, and methods of circuit analysis such as mesh analysis and node analysis. Key points covered include how current is directly proportional to voltage according to Ohm's Law, the limitations of this law, and how Kirchhoff's laws state that the total current entering a junction equals the total leaving and that the algebraic sum of all voltages around a closed loop is equal to zero. Examples are given of analyzing resistor circuits in series and parallel as well as problems demonstrating the voltage division and current division rules for such circuits.

UNIT -1 ,DC Circuits
• Ohms Law current (I) is directly proportional to the
voltage (V) applied, provided temperature
and all other factors remain constant
Limitations
• This law cannot be applied to unilateral
networks.
• Ohms law is also not applicable for non –
linear elements.
Kirchhoff's Current Law
• The total current entering into the junction is
exactly equal to the total current leaving
from the same junction
Kirchhoff's Voltage Law
The algebraic sum of all the voltages around
any closed loop in a circuit is equal to zero

Node Analysis
A node of a network is defined as a point where
two or more branches are joined.

If three or more branches join at a node, then that

node is called a principal node or junction.
Use nodal analysis to determine the current
flowing in each branch of the network shown in
Figure
