 Abstract
This research study aims to know if it there is a possible alternative
product like floor wax can be made from the Coconut Oil and Candle Wax
as potential source from different things available in the locality.

The procedure to be followed in making floor wax out of coconut oil

and candle wax is ; first ,gather all the needed materials to be use. Cut the
candles into pieces and remove the candle weak them melt the candle put
the melted candle in a clean container and let the candle down. Next, put
as much coconut oil as needed, it depends on the amount of the candle
wax (if you want it with color , add food coloring). Lastly, put the floor wax
in the designated container.

In this study, the researcher used the experimental research method to

evaluate the perception of the respondents towards the product. For the
best result they also conducted a free try for every trial and prepare
questionnaire for respondents.

BACKGROUND OF

THE STUDY:
In the Philippines there are
some things that can or that
may help to reduce some of
the problem In our country
like how to keep our floor
shiny.

Coconut Oil (Cocos

nucifera)is one of the oldest
recorded source of vegetable
oils that has been consumed
in tropical communities for
almost 4000 years.
 The use of Coconut Oil is prevalent in tropical
regions Throughout the world (e.g. South and
Central America,the Carribean,Africa,Micro-Mele-
and polynesia and Most of Asia).So respected are
the uses of coconut oil theUse of coconut oil that
they were documented in Sanskrit from 1500BC in
all areas relating to the mind,body and spirit by
Ayurvedic Medicine.
 Also popular in the western countries,the Coconut Oil
was sold during post WWII as “margarine” in England and
as “coconut butter” in the United States.In spite of the
nutritious properties and prolific use of Coconut Oil
around the world,it was maligned through a negative
campaigne as contributor to heart disease because of its
saturated fat content .The anti-saturated fat theory began
in the 1950s,with the steep rise in heart disease in the
United States.
 The negative campaign was initiated in 1954 by
the two academic papers that young resaercher
David Kritchevsky published.The scientific name
for coconut is Cocos Nucifera .Early Spanish
explorers called it coco,which means “monkey
face”because the three indentations (eyes) on the
hairy nut resembles the head and face of a monkey
.Nucifera means “nut-bearing.”

 MAIN OBJECTIVES:
The Feasibility of Coconut Oil and Candle Wax in
making floor wax.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:
1.To make a floor wax out of Coconut Oil Candle
Wax and gas.
2.To find out the effectiveness of coconut oil and
candle wax in making floor wax.
3.To evaluate the acceptability of coconut oil and
candle wax in gas to make floor wax.
 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
The study was conducted to find out if the oil and
candle wax can be used in making floor wax.
Specifically, this study sought to answer the following
questions.
1.Is it possible to make floor wax out of coconut oil,
candle wax and gas?
2.What is the best proportion of ingredients that can
be used to develop a floor wax?
3.Is the floor wax out of coconut oil acceptable in
terms of:
a. Texture b. Smell c. Appearance d. Color
 SIGNIFICANT OF THE STUDY:
The significant of the study is to utilize the
potential of coconut oil, candle wax, and gas to polish
the floor. Those people who have problems in using
coconut oil and candle wax. This contain significant
beautification of our floor. Making floor wax from
coconut oil and candle wax can be a source of income
for the family. This product is a good replacement for
those commercial floor wax which is rich in chemicals
that can be harmful to us/our health.
 SCOPE AND DELIMINATION:
The focus of this study is to make a product out of
coconut oil (cocos nucifera) and candle wax. The
extent of this study encompasses the potential use of
coconut oil and candle wax. It was conducted in
Matuyatuya National High School.
 HYPOTHESIS:
Floor wax can be made from coconut oil (cocos
nucifera) and candle wax.
DEFINITION OF TERMS:
Floor wax- A preparation made typically of a mixture
of beeswax and vegetable waxes in a suitable vehicle
and used for polishing and preserving the finish of
floors.
 Coconut oil-The fatty oil obtained from the coconut
and used in candies and confections and in
cosmetics.
 Wax-Cover or treat (something)with wax or a
similar substance secreted by honeybees as the
material of honeycomb.
 CHAPTER II
 RELATED LITERATURE AND
STUDY:
 COCONUT OIL For about 3960 years of the past 4000
years of the documented historical use of the fruits of
the coconut palm as a food and a pharmaceutical, the
news has all been good. It was seen as a sustainable
resource from which the harvested materials influence
every aspect of the leaves of tropical communities, but
most importantly its fruit, the coconut flesh, water,
milk and oil.
 This all changed in 1954 even though it has been known
for nearly a century that coconut oil is more nutritious than
other oils.

Over many decades coconut oil receive bad publicity

due to its saturated fat content but what the proponents of
“saturated fat is bad for you” did not do was to differentiate
between the three different types of saturated fat. All the
saturated fats were simply generalize under one category,
ignoring the fact that some saturated fat is in fact necessary
for human health.
 Modern research has shown that all saturated fats are alike
and coconut not oil is unique in its structural make-up due to its
medium chain fatty acids the closest to those found in human
breast milk that nature provides. They are the reason why
coconut oil is used extensively in baby formula and also in sport
drinks and energy bars, where it is usually describe as MCT
(medium chain triglycerides).This disguises the fact that some
form of coconut oil has been used. Medium chain fatty acids are
more easily digested than facts found in other oils. This is
because they are processed directly in the liver and immediately
converted into energy. There is therefore less strain on the liver,
pancreas and digestive system and, being easily digested, they
also tend to improve the absorption of other nutrients.
 Past research has failed to reveal this because it was
carried out on hydrogenated coconut oil a process that
transforms all fats into man-made, dangerous,
carcinogenic trans fatty acids.
 Significally , because virgin coconut oil is very stable, it
is highly resistant to free radical generation when
heated, even at high temperatures and is an especially
safe oil to cook with.

METHODOLOGY
A. Research Design

Experimental research method and hedonic scale method was

used. The researcher used the experimental method to find out if
Coconut oil and Candle Wax has good combination to make floor wax .
They also used hedonic scale method to evaluate the acceptability in
terms of different parameters such as aroma, texture and appearance
ant to measure the level of acceptability of floor wax from coconut oil
and candle wax. They conducted a survey, test in the community and
prepare questionnaires for the respondents.

B. Research Locale
The experiment was conducted Matuyatuya, Torrijos,Marinduque with
10 respondents ranging the age of 10 to fifty years old.
 TH E SUBJECT OF THE STUDY
This research will be use the experimental method. It will experiment on
the effectivity of coconut in polishing the floor. Since coconut oil is shiny and
slippery it will be tested on different floors proportions. If the result shows that
the different floor maintain their normal texture then the said proportion is
beneficial.
The researchers will be using experimentation and observation as the
method of collecting data under the supervision of the respondents. The
researchers will be the one to conduct the testing and be the one to observe. To
be more authentic, cellular phone will be used as instrument to take pictures of
making floor wax and will be presented to the respondents as well as the floor
shiny. To be more specific, a sample of the data if the floor will be used as the
medium the following data shall be gathered from the respondents.

The study was conducted to know if it is possible
to make a product out of coconut oil and candle wax.
To evaluate the acceptability of floor wax from coconut
oil (cocos nucifera) and candle wax and determine the
level of respondents acceptability. It was important to
evaluate the acceptability of the floor wax and the level
of respondents acceptability towards the product from
the coconut oil and candle wax to be able .
