Impact of Cinema: Mohd. Abdul Ahad

Cinema can have both positive and negative impacts. Positively, some films provide education about important issues. They have raised awareness about problems like dowry, child labor, and environmental issues. However, many modern films promote violence, sexual content, unhealthy behaviors like smoking and drug use that negatively influence youth. They have changed social and cultural values in India by increasing vulgarity. As consumers of cinema, people should think critically about the messages in films.

Impact Of Cinema

Mohd. Abdul Ahad

Impact Of Cinema
 Today, cinema is a major source entertainment for everyone.

 Cinema is always a combination of good and bad.

 Some films shows about the activities and customs of the people,

we get to know about different type of people and cultures.

 but some movies will give a bad influence on the peoples mindset.

 But as far as “Cinema” is concerned, it is depends on a person.

Good Effects
 It can’t be denied that some films are educational.

 In many countries, educational authorities are trying to make the best use of

cinema to spread knowledge and information.

ex:- Slumdog Millionaire.

(The dark reality of slums in India, this inspired many rich people to donate

money for children in slums).

 Cinema also helps the youth to acquire knowledge about the evil

happenings in the society like Dowry, Sati, Child labour, Racism etc.
• By making them aware of these issues, cinema arouses their conscience against

these evils.

• there are movies like 'Taare Zameen Par' and 'The Day After Tomorrow' allowed

people to understand and address the issue of 'special' kids and about global

warming.

• not much but cinema today creates health and social awareness among people.

• Good cinema can inspire youth, stimulate creativity, provide role models,

broaden horizons, send positive messages about life and the world.
Bad Effects
 cinema has influenced the youth deeply be it the way they dress,
talk, walk, even their attitude and personality has been deeply
affected.
 movies today are filled with violence and sexual promiscuity,
leading young people astray, making it look good to them.
 Many films are very hazardous to the teen class as they are not
aware, but the results are immense.
 Action ,drama, and many more set a certain frame of mind in
youth, which cant be cured.
 In the super heroes cinematography, heroic moves are being imitated by

children raking them to the edge of death.

 The increased importance of glamour over substance in today's movies

must also be discouraged.

 Noticeably, not many films these days address the 'traditional' social

issues like “poverty, dowry, plight of rural women, domestic violence,

casteism and others, due to which youth are more or less ignorant of these

issues”.
 Today we can see that the youth also got into the habit of drugs and

smoking like their superstars do..

 In some movies, wherein the Red Alert Areas were shown.. Today’s

youth is also getting attracted towards this.

 The latest six pack abs makeover, and Extreme weight loss regime for

certain character in films, created such a negative impact, that

youngsters are getting obsessed.

 they are taking weight loss pills, drugs and extreme starvation to

emulate their role models creating serious health concerns.

Changes in Indian cinema
 India, known for its rich cultural ,traditional and ethical values , is

now going through a very different phase.

 On one side India is growing fast economically and globally and on

other side our cultural values are dying.

 One direct impact is that vulgarity in India cinema have gone up

considerably which is directly effecting minds of youngsters and

adults as well.
• We as the educated youth of India should also
act responsibly and not blindly follow the
ideas depicted by cinema.
