Tourism in Bangladesh
The beautiful country of Bangladesh has tourist attractions
including archaeological sites, historical mosques and monuments,
rivers, tea gardens, beaches, forests, tribal people and wildlife of
various species. Along with rich cultural heritage, it leaves an
unforgettable impression on the mind of any visitor.

Some Tourist Spots of Dhaka
National Memorial :
Located at Savar, 35, km. from
Dhaka city. The memorial designed
by architect Moinul Hossein, is
dedicated to the sacred memory of
people who fought for independence
in 1971.
Shaheed Minar:
The Shaheed Minar is a national monument
in Dhaka, Bangladesh, established to
commemorate those killed during the
Bengali Language Movement
demonstrations of 1952.
On February 21, 1952, dozens of students
and political activists were killed when the
Pakistani police force opened fire on Bengali
protesters who were demanding equal status
for their native tongue, Bengali.
Lalbagh Fort : It was built
in 1678 by Prince
Mohammad Azam, son of
Mughal emperor
Aurangazeb. Outstanding
among the monuments of
the Lelbagh are the tomb
of Pari Bibi (Fairy lady),
and also shahid minar,
sonargon, picnic spots,
clubs, institue of arts and
crafs are place to visit.

Chittagong
The world’s longest unbroken natural sea beach lies on Cox’s Bazaar. Other beaches in Bangladesh
include Kuakata, which is famous for its sight of both sunrise and sunset. And the beautiful coral
island of Saint Martin’s is a very popular tourist destination here in Bangladesh.

Famous as an important
centre of Buddhist culture
from the 7th to 12th
centuries, the buildings
excavated here were made
wholly of baked bricks.
Kaptai:
A pleasant and
picturesque drive of 64
km. from Chittagong
brings you to a huge
expanse of emerald and
blue water ringed with
tropical forest. It is the
famous man-made Kaptai
lake (680 sq. km) formed
by damming the
Karnaphuli river.
The Hill Tracts, Rangamati,
Bandarban & Khagrachori, are
known for their high peaks,
beautiful lakes and tribal
people.

AREA: Nearly 2400 sq. miles or 6000
sq. km.
MAIN ATTRACTIONS:
Wildlife photography including
photography of the famous Royal
Bengal Tiger, wildlife viewing, boating
inside the forest will call recordings,
nature study, meeting fishermen, wood-
cutters and honey-collectors, peace and
tranquility in the wilderness, seeing the
world's largest mangrove forest and the
riverine beauty.
FAMOUS SPOTS:
Hiron Point (Nilkamal) for tiger, deer,
monkey, crocodiles, birds and natural
beauty.
Katka for deer, tiger, crocodiles,
varieties of birds and monkey, morning
and evening symphony of wild fowls.
Tin Kona Island for tiger and deer.
Dublar Char (Island) for fishermen. It is
a beautiful island where herds of spotted
deer are often seen to graze.
Shait Gumbad Mosque
The Mosque is located about
three miles west of the present
Bagerhat town.
Sixty Dome Mosque (Shat
Gambuj Masjid) meaning a
mosque with 60 domes, was built
in 1449. It was built by Khan
Jahan Ali, a muslim sufi saint
around 1450 A.D.

Tourist Spot in Rajshahi Division
Rajshahi Padma
Puthia Rajbari
Puthia zamindari created by the Mughals in the early 17th century
is one of the oldest estates of Bengal, is in Puthia upazila in
Rajshahi district.
Choto Sona Mosque :
the reign of Sultan Alauddin Husain Shah (1493-1519). Originally it was
roofed over with 15 gold-gilded domes including the 3 Chauchala domes
in the middle row, from which it derives its curious name.
Paharpur Buddho Bihar :
Paharpur Buddho Bihar is another tourist attraction of North Bengal.
King Dharma Pal established Paharpur Buddho Bihar in 7th century.

Baharin, Frankfurt, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong,

Biman, Bangladesh Airlines also connects Dhaka
with Chittagong, Jessore, Cox's Bazar, Rajshahi
Saidpur and Sylhet in its 7 domestic routes. (Biman,

Rail: The Bangladesh Railway provides an
efficient service to places of interest such as
Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna, Mymensingh, Bogra,
Rajshahi, Dinajpur starting from Dhaka. The inter-
city Express Service is available to and from
important cities at cheap fares.
How To Travel
River : Country-Made boats are the most widely
used carrier one can see in the river and rivulets. The
landscape of Bangladesh is dominated by about 250
rivers which flow essentially north-sourth. Wherever
there is a river and a village, a launch or steamer will
ply for trade. A journey by Rocket Steamer service
from Dhaka (Sadarghat) to Khulna, the gateway to
Sundarbans is a rewarding experience.
Bus/Coach Services: Road transport in
Bangladesh is predominantly a private sector affair.
Rates are among the cheapest in the world. Express
and non-stop services are available to principal
towns from different places

National and global impacts of tourism influence the overall
situation of a country concerning its economy, socio-economic
condition, ecology and environment. Tourism enriches
economy, exchanges social and cultural values, and conserves
nature; however, it has some negative impacts as well.
