(1) Dr. Jose P. Rizal was a Filipino nationalist and revolutionary who fought against Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines in the late 19th century. (2) As a polymath, he was a novelist, poet, ophthalmologist, and nationalist who advocated for reforms in the Philippines. (3) In my opinion, Rizal was one of the greatest Filipinos who fought courageously for Philippine independence through his writings which spread awareness of the injustices of Spanish rule and inspired other revolutionaries like Bonifacio to take up arms against their colonial masters.
