Historical Places of Bangladesh
Bangladesh is the most beautiful country of
south Asia loaded with natural beauties and
historical establishments.
It has it’s two thousand years history or
more.There are numerous historical spots in
Dhaka, Rajshahi, Bogra, Dinajpur, Comilla and
other piece of Bangladesh. Principle
attractions are Mosque and Mazar, Hindu
sanctuaries, Churches, Buddist Monastery
and recorded structures.
AHSAN MANZIL
Residential palace and seat of the Dhaka Nawab family. It is situated at
Kumartoli along the banks of the Buriganga River. Construction was
started in the year 1859 and was completed in 1869. To preserve the
cultural and history of the area, the Palace became the Bangladesh
National Museum on 20 September 1992.
SHAHEED MINAR
The Shaheed is a national monument in Dhaka, Bangladesh, established
to commemorate those killed during the Bengali Language Movement
demonstrations of February 21, 1952. Located near Dhaka Medical
College Hospital and in the Dhaka University area.
CURZON HALL, UNIVERSITY OF DHAKA
Curzon Hall, named after Lord Curzon (Viceroy and Governor-General
of India, 1899 – 1905) who laid the foundation stone in 1904, was
originally intended to be a town hall. Now, as part of the school of
science of the University of Dhaka.
TOMB OF BIBI PARI
The tomb of Bibi Pari, located in the center of Lalbagh Fort.The most
impressive of the surviving buildings of the fort. Eight rooms surround
a central square room that contains the mortal remains of Bibi Pari.
The central room is covered by a false octagonal-shaped dome,
wrapped by a bronze plate
SHRINE OF HAZRAT SHAH JALAL
Hazrat Shahjalal Mazar is located in Sylhet, Bangladesh. It is famous
for the grave of one of the famous Muslim saints in the region. Every
year thousands of visitors from all over the world come to visit this
holy place. This spot will surely fascinate you.
GOUR GOBINDO FORT
The Gour Gobinda Fort, Sylhet though in ruins is one of the preferred
tourist destinations in and around the hillside town of Sylhet. The Gour
Gobinda Fort stands as the testimony to the resistance the brave
soldiers of the king Gour Gobinda. It was destroyed By Hajrat
Shahjalal.
MAINAMATI
Mainamati is a famous Buddhist archaeological site in Comilla. Marks
of rich ancient civilization have been found in Lalmai Mainamati hills.
Comilla Cantonment is located nearby and houses a beautiful colonial
era cemetery.Mainamati is named for the Chandra queen of the same
name, mother of Govindachandra.
MAHASTHANGARH
The earliest urban archaeological site so far discovered in Bangladesh
in 1931.The village Mahasthan in Shibganj thana of Bogra District
contains the remains of an ancient city.Which was called Pundranagar
or Pundrabardhan.
SHAT GAMBUJ MOSQUE
This is the largest of the Sultanate mosques in Bangladesh and one of
the most impressive Muslim monuments in the whole of the Indian
subcontenent. It also UNESCO World Heritage Site. The construction of
the mosque was started in 1442 and it was completed in 1459. The
mosque was used for prayers, and also as a madrasa and assembly hall.
HILLS AND FALLS
NILGIRI
Nilgiri is about 3500 feet high and situated at Thanci Thana, about 46
km south of Bandarban on the Bandarban-Chimbuk-Thanchi road.
There is beautiful resort in the top of the mountain maintain by the
Bangladesh Army.
NAFAKHUM & AMIAKHUM
Nafakhum and Amiakhum
are waterfalls in on
the Sangu river. The wild
hilly river Sangu suddenly
falls down here about 25–
30 feet.
The falls are located in a
remote area three hours
walking distance
from Remakri, Thanchi
Upazilla. Remakri is
located three hours by
boat on the Sangu River.
SAJEK VALLEY
Sajek is a union at
Baghaichari Upazila in
Rangamati districts.
Basically it is name of a
river which separates
Bangladesh from India.
The valley is 18000 ft
high form sea lavel.
Most attractions of
the spot are sun set,
rain, morning,
evening, and night.
SHUVOLONG FALLS
Shuvolong is in Borokol sub district, situated about 25kilometers away
from Rangamati. There are few waterfalls in Shuvolong zone with the
largest one falling from as high as 300 feet. To go to Shuvalong from
Rangamati city it requires a boat or trawler.
ALUTILA CAVE
Approximately 100 meters
long a very dark Cave is
the mysterious beauty of
Alutila hill. It will take 15
minutes to pass the cave.
Most interesting thing is
the cold water flowing at
bottom. From top of the
hill you can see all around
the Khagrachari town.
RICHHANG WATERFALL
Risang Waterfall is located
in Risang, Matiranga Upazila
of Khagrachari District of
Chittagong, Bangladesh. The
Risang Waterfall is about 30
meter in height.
It is situated beside the
Khagrachari - Chittagong
highway; around 10
kilometer apart from the
Khagrachari town. From the
highway, its 2.1 kilometer
walking distance.
Sea Beach and Islands
Cox's Bazar
Cox's Bazar is the prime beach and tourist town in Bangladesh, situated
alongside the beach of the Bay of Bengal. It has an unbroken 120 kilometre
golden sand beach. It is one off the most attractive tourist spots for
Bangladesh and not only for Bangladesh it's the longest sea beach in the
world.
