Cricket Academy
A Message from the Academy
 In our personal opinion gaining high quality coaching from as young
an age as possible is the key to success as a cricketer, an athlete or a
competitor in any sport. That's not to say its ever too late to start
learning mind you. In our experience someone's perceived level of
'talent' is never enough to carry a cricketer to the top and this is
where high quality coaching can hopefully not only install a strong
technique and knowledge of the game into a developing cricketer,
but also a winning attitude towards training, performance and life.
Having a firm grasp of how to approach each training session and
subsequently match days is often what separates the elite band of
performers from those who are just 'talented' and its this that we try
to install into every cricketer we meet."
Introduction
 The contemporary sporting milieu demands that a sportsperson is
able to accomplish their skills in a number of ways and in diverse
scenarios and match surroundings. No longer is it satisfactory to be
proficient to lay bare a dexterity in perfect technique style, the
dimension of success is reliant on the athlete's knack to make the
spot on decisions at the right time in a match environment.
 The meeting point is incessantly broken up away from the
development of 'correct technique' to the development of 'correct
decision making'.
 Omtex embraces this proclivity and the Cricket Education Program
coaching philosophy focuses on maximising partaking in high
quality coaching sessions and creating the environment for
participants to solve problems and develop their cricket ability..
What is Sports Edification?

 Sports Edification brings didactic principles and practices into the sports
development area.
 Traditional sports schooling involves relatively amorphous coaching plans
with often short term goals and objectives. Sessions are predominantly
skill focused with the aims of each session about winning the next game or
a coach's search for the next elite athlete.
 Sports Education however, has a broader mandate with a focus on
instructive outcomes, not just talent identification. It is core curriculum
based teaching providing for a well thought-out, widespread and
chronological program covering all areas of the sport.
 Consequently, Sports Education's broad-based education principles are
aimed at developing young people through sport.
1. Coach Training & Authorization

 The supervision and vigorous involvement of Omtex in the training and ongoing
education of coaches ensures the latest techniques and teaching methodologies are
enshrined in the program.
 Coaches delivering the program would be Graded Renowned coaches to build upon
and enhance their current cricket and coaching skills.
 Popular Physiotherapist like John Gloster who was also associated with the Indian
team is a part of Rajasthan Royals.
 Omtex would also work closely with the coaches to monitor their performance and
provide ongoing training and development.
Line of Attack for Teaching
 The teaching methodology would be very modern and novel. Sessions
would be designed and developed around the needs of participants
with modern coaching principles and practices engaged.
 All activities consider the involvement level of participants to ensure
their participation is maximised and they are fully engaged in the
sessions.
 Sessions would also be developed involving game scenarios and
situations. This would create an environment for participants to learn
and encourage the development of problem solving abilities.
 A blend of soft ball and season ball activities would also be utilized to
consider safety and maximise the learning of participants.
Curriculum Based Program
 The content would be research based with cricket experts, education
specialists and elite development professionals all involved in its
development.
 Consequently, the content would be comprehensive across all areas of
cricket and provides for a learning sequence from the basic
fundamentals to the more advanced skills.
 Similarly, participants would be provided with resources and in the
same way that they would be expected to do homework in the
classroom; Omtex would provide a Participant Manual and
Participant Journal for each level. The Manual would contain the
curriculum content for the participant to read and learn from and the
Journal provides for a self-reflection document for them to record
their thoughts and learning in their own words after each session.
Competency Based Assessment
 In an innovative and comprehensive manner, the assessment of
participants is conducted under the parameters of:
 Knowledge – the How to execute a skill
 Understanding – the Why and When to execute a skill
 Skill – the physical Performing of the skill
 Assessment is conducted at each level using a continuous process
of knowledge and understanding and an end of year skill
assessment.
 The satisfactory completion of each level entitles the participant to
the appropriate certificate.
Venue Partnerships

 Omtex understands and appreciates that the school is the core

of a child's upbringing and education.
 As the formal centre of learning, the opportunity to bring
education and sport together will result in the more holistic
development of the child.
 In fact, current research supports the hypothesis that
physically active children perform better academically and
that increased sport performance correlates to increased
academic performance.
School Benefits
 There would be many and varied benefits for schools partnered in the program.
 Along with the direct benefits to the students through improved cricket performance
and the health, self confidence and self esteem benefits associated with regular
exercise, Omtex would structure it in a harmonious way with regular school
practices. On field sessions correlate to regular class studies with the Participant
Journal and Handbook corresponding with regular home work practices.
 Partnering with a world class program of Omtex will also strengthen the reputation
of an educational institution. Having this coaching running in the school greatly
value adds to your current programs and provide a considerable competitive
advantage.
 A Certificate of Partnership will be presented to the school to provide recognition
and visible acknowledgment of the school's involvement.
 The implementation of the program will fit in with the school's activities and can be
structured in such a way as to not impact on other school activities, either during
school hours or any existing extra curricular programs.
TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT
 Omtex would also opt for modern techniques for all of its video
analysis coaching sessions. is a video based motion analysis
software program designed to provide a complete range of data
analysis tools, to allow state of the art evaluation of player
performance.
 With the use of such novel assessment, players, at all practice
sessions will be able to access an instant replay facility in order to
ensure the highest ongoing means of practice available. Batsmen
are literally able to view, in detail, any shot they have played,
immediately after it has been executed in practice. Bowlers have
exactly the same opportunity to view their action immediately after
the ball has been delivered.


 Our Mission
 To provide quality coaching and cricketing facilities for any individual or
team wanting to experience and learn the skills of cricket and its unique
cultures in a variety of different countries.

which it isn't presently played.
 Our Focus
 To impact the lives of young people in the academy by creating affordable
and accessible cricket facilities to primarily serve those who have not
previously had exposure to the game and its positive values
Field Trips
 Field trips at Cricket Academy are generally connected to our curriculum
themes. Students benefit tremendously from travelling outside of the school
environment to enhance their understanding of the lessons within the
classroom.
 Outdoor Activities
 Physical Education Program Goals
 Our goal would be to create opportunities for students to acquire the knowledge
needed to be physically fit and take part in healthful physical activity on a
regular basis.
 We would assist students in developing their motor skills and encourage the
practice of these skills to enhance their movement and physical performance.
 Activities would also be conducted to create a camaraderie and rapport between
the students.
JOY through Cricket *
 Is a non-profit programme conducted each year to give
opportunities to under privileged youth from the City to travel
India and learn about the different cultures and experiences,
which they have missed over the years.
 The Cricket Academy would try to make a small difference
through the medium of cricket to the lives of underprivileged
The Cricket Academy would like to develop this programme
further in assisting other people through the medium of sport.
