Ajrakh Block Printing

Ajrakh is a block-printed textile made in Kutch, Gujarat using natural dyes like indigo and madder. It features geometric and floral patterns in blue and red. The printing process takes 14-21 days and involves finely carved wooden blocks to create dovetailed designs. Cotton cloth is used and pinned to a printing table where skilled artisans press the blocks to imprint colors in a repeat pattern determined by a grid system. The resulting fabric is soft, colorful, and appealing.
