Instructions for presentations


1- all the group members are supposed to present.
2- per person timing is 3 to 4 minutes. Time management
will be appreciated.
3- Urdu or English. In which you can explain will.
4- any member of the group can answer, no specific person
will be compelled to answer.
5- no dress code during the presentation is necessary.
6- maintain the class discipline to get maximum marks.
7- No delay for a member, the remaining members should
present their part. For reasonable excuse the late member
will be given chance, however his marking will be from
60 per cent.

The Holy Quran

Meaning of the word Quran


This word is derived from the
Arabic roots.‫أ‬.‫ر‬.‫ق‬
The word (qiraah) is also derived from the same roots. So the
meaning of (qiraah) is reading and recitation.

The word Qur’n in the tense of exaggeration. So the literal
:meaning of the word Qura’n is the widely read book. So
.Qira’ah means: reading and recitation
.And Qura’n means the widely read book
.No doubt that the holy Qura’n is recited widely
definition

Technically it means
One of the holy books of Allah which has been revealed to
the holy prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s.) in 23 years.

Two words used in the holy Qur’n in this regard;
Inzal and Tanzeel.
Inzal means: transmission in one ocassionL‫نزلناه‬L‫نا أ‬L‫إ‬
‫لقدر‬LL‫يلة ا‬LL‫ىل‬LLL‫ “ف‬while Tanzeel means gradual
revelation .“‫نزيال‬LLL‫ ت‬L‫“ون َّزلناه‬

219: : ‫ البقرة‬.‫يسئلونك عن الخمر والميسر قل فيهما إثم كبير ومنافع للناس وإثمهما أكبر من نفعهما‬
Translation: They ask you about alcohol and gambling, Say: there is great sin in
them and benefits for the people, and their sins are greater than their benefits..
)‫ حضرت عمر(رضـ‬.‫اللهم بين لنا بيانا شافيا‬
Oh God, explaine for us an enough statement.
43:‫ النساء‬.‫ياأيها الذين آمنوا التقربواالصلوة وأنتم سكارى حتى تعلموا ما تقولون‬
O you who believe, do not come near the Prayer while you are drunk until you know
what you say.
Philosophy behind the gradual
revelation
To be according to the natural process.
The prohibition of alcohol:
‫ياأيها الذين آمنوا إنما الخمر والميسر واألنصاب واألزالم رجس من عمل الشيطان فاجتنبوه‬
90:‫ المائدة‬.‫لعلكم تفلحون‬
O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, stone alters,
and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid
it that you may be successful.
‫إنما يريد الشيطان أن يوقع بينكم العداوة والبغضاء في الخمر والميسر ويصدكم عن ذكر هللا وعن‬
91:‫ المائدة‬.‫الصلوة فهل أنتم منتهون‬
Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through
intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and
from prayer. So will you not desist?
We refrain from, we refrain from .)‫انتهينا انتهينا حضرت عمر (رضـ‬
Indirect revelation
No philosophy can be quoted exactly. It is a safe
passage. It is called “tafweez” .
To show the angels the greatness of the holy Qur’n.
To show that it is preserved in many places.
The first revealed verses

 The verses of Al- alaq.


 Surah al-Fatiha.
 Verses of Al- Mudassar.
the first opinion is authentic.

Gabraeel (a.s.) himself in his own appearance.


In the appearance of dihia kalbi‫لبى‬L‫ دحية ك‬.

The holy Qura’n was recorded only according to Tarteeb-
e- Tauqeefi not Nuzooli. Because the compilation is
according to lawh-e-Mahfooz while the revelation is
according to the circumstances

Compilation of the holy Qura’n
 In dauri nabvi. His instructions and katibeen-e-wahi.

compilation).
1. Yamama war and Hazrat Umar ‘s proposal.
2. Hazrat zaid bin sabit and the responsibility.
Steps taken for the compilation
Collection of the personal material.
Hazrat zaid’s verification and comparing with the
manuscript he had.
Hazrat Umar and Hazrat zaid were hafizan-e-
Qura’n.
Two witnesses.
The compiled manuscript was named as umm ,
which means mother or original thing.
Important features of Umm
1. According to tarteeb-e-tawqeefi.
2. Surahs were different units.
3. All the words in which the holy Qur’an
was revealed were included.
4. It was written in Heiary script.
5. None abolished recitations were
included in this manuscript.
6. It was written for reference.

The main source was of Hazrat Hafsa (R.A).However
they were compared with those of Sahaba (R.A)
Sahaba’s manuscripts were burnt in this time while the
manuscript of Hazrat Hafsa (r.a) was given back which
.was burnt in the reign of Marwah-bin-Al-Hakam
