What is Cooperation?
Definition of Cooperation

 Language
 Cooperative comes from the Latin "Coopere", which is in English
 called cooperation. Co means joint and operation means work, so
cooperation means working together.

 Expert
according to Father of Cooperation of Indonesia "Mohammad Hatta", cooperatives are joint efforts to
improve the fate of economic livelihoods based on the spirit of helping "one for all and all for one".

01 1771-1858 – Robert Owen founded Cooperation , he is
from Scotland and start to introduce it in Europe
1896 – Patih R.Aria Atmadja Introducting cooperation
in Indonesia

History of 1908 – Budi Utomo is the first local organization that


implementing principle to bumiputera 

Cooperation 1915 – Dutch-Hindies Goverment has compiled the first


cooperative association regulation Number 43 years
of 1915

in Indonesia 1927 – Serikat Dagang Islam has been founded in order


to  fight for bumiputera economic situation
1927 – Dutch-Hindies goverment has compiled
regulation Number 91 year of 1927 which regulated
cooperative association for the bumiputera group
1929 – Partai Nasional Indonesia has been founded in
order to awaken cooperation spirit in indonesia
1933 – Dutch-Hindies has compiled regulation
association Number 21 year of 1933 which only applied
to group that obbey to the western legal order
1947 – Sentral Organisasi Koperasi Rakyat Indoensia
has been founded by Muhamma Hatta and Cooperative
Nasional has been indicated on 12 July 1947
Advantages of joining Cooperative
1. Cooperative members are entitled to SHU.
The size of the SHU received by cooperative
members is based on the capital invested and
the profits earned by the cooperative.

2. So cooperative members can save expenses.


You can buy goods at the cooperative at a
lower price, because it is registered as a
member.

3. Borrowing money from cooperatives is also


more profitable because the interest charged is
lower, so credit installments are smaller.

4. So cooperative members can also get


business training and expand business
relationships. That way, your quality as an
individual will be better.
