FREESTYLE WRESTLING
is a sport that consists in single combat of two
sportsmen under certain rules; with the use of various
techniques (captures, throws, coups, sweeps, etc.), in
which each of the rivals tries to put another on the
shoulder blades and win. In freestyle wrestling, unlike
the Greco-Roman wrestling, it is allowed to grab the
opponent's legs, cut and actively use the legs when
performing any technique.
HISTORY
From historical sources it is known that in the old
days in the British Empire there was a struggle in
which wrestlers were allowed to grasp the legs
and tricks with the actions of the feet .
Currently, the leading countries in free-style
wrestling are: the USA, Russia, Azerbaijan,
Iran, Georgia.

Greco-Roman Wrestling (Lutte Gréco-Romaine)
Greco-Roman wrestling is one of several forms
of amateur competitive wrestling practised
internationally. The other wrestling disciplines
sanctioned by United World Wrestling are: men's
freestyle wrestling, women's freestyle wrestling,
grappling (submission wrestling), pankration,
Alysh (belt wrestling), Pahlavani wrestling, and
beach wrestling.[5]
Layout of the matEdit
The match takes place on a thick rubber circular mat that is shock-absorbing to
ensure safety. For the Olympic Games, all World Championships, and World
Cups, the mat has to be new. The main wrestling area has a nine-meter diameter
and is surrounded by a 1.5 meter border of the same thickness known as the
"protection area". Inside the nine meter in diameter circle is a red band of one
meter in width that is on the outer edge of the circle and is known as the "red
zone". The red zone is used to help indicate passivity on the part of a wrestler;
thus, it is also known as the "passivity zone". Inside the red zone is the "central
wrestling area" which is seven meters in diameter. In the middle of the central
wrestling area is the "central circle", which is one meter in diameter. The central
circle is surrounded by a band 10 centimeters wide and is divided in half by a
red line eight centimeters in width. The diagonally opposite corners of the mat
are marked with the wrestlers' colors, red and blue.[24]
Freestyle wrestling
Main article: Freestyle wrestling
Freestyle wrestling is an international discipline and an Olympic
sport, for both men and women. This style allows the use of the
wrestler's or his opponent's legs in offense and defense. Freestyle
wrestling has its origins in catch-as-catch-can wrestling and the
prime victory condition in this style involves the wrestler winning
by throwing and pinning his opponent on the mat. American
high school and men's college wrestling is conducted under
different rules and is termed scholastic and collegiate wrestling.
American women's college wrestling uses freestyle rules.
