describe how the process of
growth takes place.

Cephalocaudal Principle
states that development
proceeds from top to
bottom. According to this
principle, a child will
gain physical control of
their head first. After
this, physical control will
move downward to the
arms and lastly to the
legs.
It comes from the Latin words proxim- which means "close" and "-dis-"
meaning "away from", because the trend essentially describes a path from the
center outward.
Orthogenetic Principle
This means that development of
more difficult tasks begins with
the mastery of simple tasks first.
In other words, one stage of
development lays the foundation
for the next stage of
development.
