Locating Data
Locating
In the locating process, the BSC selects the cell that will provide the
best connection between an MS and a BTS. If the BSC detects that,
for example, a neighboring cell provides a radio connection with
better signal strength, the BSC will initiate a change from the
current (serving) cell to the neighboring cell; this process is called
handover. The decision on a handover is based on two
Measurement Reports (MRs) from MS and BTS.
Main Parameter: TAAVELEN, TINIT, TALLOC, TURGEN,
EVALTYPE, THO, NHO, ASSOC, IBHOASS, IBHOSICH, IHOSICH,
BSPWR, BSRXMIN, BSRXSUFF, MSRXMIN, MSRXSUFF, SCHO,

Radio Network Features
Idle Channel Measurements - ICM

Idle Channel Measurements

The BTS measures the uplink interference on idle channels: Traffic
Channel (TCH) or Stand Alone Dedicated Control Channel
(SDCCH). This information can then be used during channel
allocation to select the best suited channel for a connection or for
statistical purpose.

Main Parameters: ICMBAND

Main Printout Command: RLCRP(CELL RESOURCES)

Radio Network Features
Subcell Structure – OL and UL

Subcell Structure – OL and UL

The idea with OL/UL subcells is that traffic close to the site is
moved to the OL subcell, while the traffic closer to the cell border is
moved to the UL subcell. By controlling the traffic in this way, the
frequencies in the OL subcell can have a tighter reuse.

Main Parameters: SCTYPE
