Capstonproject Synopsis Presentation: Title: Hydro Power Electric Mechanical Jack

This document provides details about designing an electric hydraulic jack. It begins with background on hydraulic jacks and their benefits over other jacking methods. It then outlines the proposed design of an electric hydraulic jack, which would use an electric motor to drive a hydraulic pump and allow automatic lifting of all sides of a car. The construction steps are explained, involving using a car battery to power a DC motor coupled to a lead screw. Switching the motor's direction lifts or lowers the jack's lifting platform. This design aims to improve on manual hydraulic jacks by incorporating electric control for easier lifting of vehicles during repair work.

INTRODUCTION
Jack is a tool used to lift a car so that mechanics can check parts of the bottom of the car. Many types of jacks
can be found in car workshops both large workshops and simple workshops supported by hydraulic jacks and
car lifts. Hydraulic jacks are the most widely used jacks because they are lightweight and easy to use,
affordable cost of applying access tools, easy maintenance, and portable. However the hydraulic jack can only
lift one side of the car that is approved by the mechanic to service the underside of the car. Usually, the
mechanics can solve it more than one side of the car using the help of Jack Stand / stand jack, but the use of
Jack Stand is not effective because the new Jack Stand can be applied after the car is lifted using a hydraulic
jack. Electric hydraulic jack is a tool used by technicians to improve the car using the working principle of
hydraulics so that the technician does not automatically need to spend a lot of labor. In order for electrical
control to be applied to the manual control of the hydraulic pump, the author needs to align the manual
hydraulic pump (driven) system with electrical control (which drives) using an electric motor. With the
installation of an electric motor, this will help the mechanic to make car repairs . The driving motor as a
converter of electrical energy becomes a mechanical drive, the use of an electric drive motor on a manual
hydraulic pump. From the problems that arise in the upper hydraulic jack, the author has the idea to install an
electrical control system on the hydraulic pump that will be applied to a portable hydraulic jack. Portable
Hydraulic Jack is a jack that can lift all sides of the car used by mechanics to facilitate mechanics in carrying
out car repair and maintenance activities, so from the results of this study will be a jack that can lift all sides of
the car and work automatically.
Types of Hydraulic Jacks

Hydraulic jacks usually take one of two forms:

 Bottle jacks are vertically mounted systems that push weight
upwards. Their straightforward design allows them to lift heavy loads
within compact spaces, but since they’re smaller and narrower than
floor jacks, they offer less stability for wide or unwieldy loads.
 Floor jacks are horizontal cylinders that lift weight parallel to
their power source. Many floor jacks sit low to the ground, allowing
operators to insert them into tight spaces and also to mount them on
tractors and crawlers. However, because of their bulky design,
they’re hard to effectively operate in close quarters.
CONSTRUCTION OF PNEUMATIC SHEET
METALCUTTING MACHINE.

STEP 1: The car battery is used to drive the D.C motor. The D.C motor shaft is connected
to the screw through coupling. If power is driven to the D.C motor, it will run so that the
screw also runsand converts rotary to translatory motion. The arms of jack move upwards,
so that the vehicle lift sfrom the ground. The vehicle is lifted by using the lifting platform
at the top of the jack. The motor draws power supply from the battery. The lifting and
uplifting is done by changing the battery supply to the motor.
STEP 2 : After pressing the switch, power from battery is transferred to the
motor that is connected to the screw. Now the screw starts moving. Now
controlling the switch which is connected to the motor at the base the set-up is
adjusted below the body which is being lifted.

STEP 3 : Now pressing the switch which is connected to the motor that is
coupled to the lead screw, the circuit is completed and voltage from the battery is
pass to the motor. When tapping the switch to the positive pole, positive voltage
is supplied to the DC motor moves in clockwise direction and lead screw moves
in downward direction.

STEP 4 : When tapping the switch to the negative pole, negative voltage is
supplied to the DC motor moves in anticlockwise direction and lead screw moves
in upward direction. In this way the directions of motor can be controlled which
in turns regulate the lift load direction either upward or downward as per the
requirements.
