What is ROTC?
RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS (ROTC) is
a program institutionalized under Sections 38 and
39 of Republic Act No. 7077 designed to provide
military training to tertiary level students in order to
motivate, train, organize and mobilize them for
national defense preparedness.

MAINTENANCE AND UTILIZATION OF THE
CITIZEN ARMED FORCE OF THE ARMED
FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES"
THE DISTINCTION OF BASIC AND ADVANCE ROTC
BASIC ROTC- a program composed of 2 semesters
of the academic year. Military Science 1 (MS-1) for
the first Semester and Military Science 2 (MS-2) for
the second semester.
ARTICLE VIII -Section 45 of R.A 7077
Graduates of basic ROTC shall be given a
reserve enlisted rank and serial number and
assigned to reserve units and mobilization
centers in their provinces. The rank to be
awarded shall be from private to sergeant or
its equivalent.
ADVANCE ROTC- is a program composed of 3
years of both academic and physical training. It is
divided into;
COQC- Cadet officer qualifying
course. MS 1
3rd Class ROTC Cadets – MS 2
2nd Class ROTC Cadets- MS 31-32
1st Class ROTC Cadets – MS 41-42
ARTICLE VIII - Section 46
Disposition of Graduates of Advance ROTC.
Those who successfully completed the advance
ROTC course shall be recommended for commission
in the reserve force as second lieutenants and
assigned to the reserve units and mobilization
centers in their provinces. Those with manifest
potential may be commissioned in the regular force
as second lieutenants subject to the criteria for
regular officers of this rank from that particular
service.
Those who fail to complete the course shall be
conferred the enlisted rank of sergeant or its
equivalent and similarly assigned to reserve units
and mobilization centers. Probationary training as a
requisite before commissionship shall be determined
by the major service concerned based on technical
skills, experiences or qualifications of the applicants.
PROVISIONARY OFFICER TRAINING COURSE
MILITARY SCIENCE 43(MS 43)- The POTC or MS43 is
the continuation of the Advance ROTC Subject, MS
42 under the NSTP program, as one of the sources
of commissioned officers who will then be one of
the qualifications for serving the regular force and
more so to our Reserve Force.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE
CADET OFFICERS
CORPS COMMANDER
As battalion commander, he is responsible to the
commandant for the administration of the corps of
cadets. He maintains harmonious relationship
between cadet officers and cadets (cadet in line). He
maintains high degree of spirit de corps with in the
unit. He sees to it that all legal orders emanating
from higher authority intended to the corps, or
cadets are properly disseminated and carried out.
He consistently strives for the improvement of the
corps of cadets.
CORPS EX-O
As a second In the command of the corps of cadets, he
is responsible at all times to assume the responsibility
of the battalion commander: in case the latter absent or
incapacitated to perform duties. Coordinates and
supervises other staff relation and be able to pronounce
to the battalion commander the state of morale, conduct
and discipline, state of training and general efficiency of
the corps at all times. Perform such other duties as may
be directed by the battalion commander.
CORPS ADJUTANT
As battalion Adjutant, He assists the battalion
commander in timely dissemination of orders
to the corps of cadets and process all
incoming communication from the cadets.
CORPS S1
As battalion S1, He assist the battalion commander
in matters pertaining to the admin of the cadets.
Submit all weekly report on attendance, award of
merits and ROTC cadet record cards. Perform such
other duties as may be directed by the battalion
commander.
CORPS S2
As battalion S2, He keep and maintain
the battalion commander's intelligence
report adversely affecting the dept. of
preparatory military training. Plan
coordinate for the collection of information
regarding national security.
CORPS S3
As corps S3, He Assist the battalion commander in
the organizational planning and training of cadets.
plans and coordinates in the preparation and use of
classroom and grounds and other facilities
necessary for the proper conduct training. Checks
the lesson plans and manuscripts of cadet's
instructors and sees to it that they are properly
rehearsed. Perform such other duties as may be
directed by the battalion commander.
CORPS S4
As battalion S4, He assists the battalion
commander in matters pertaining to the
procurement and issuance of supplies used
by cadets. He is in charge with the
maintenance of proper accounting of arm
equipment used in the training.
CORPS S7
As CMO officer, He is responsible for all the
operation's which pertain to the civilian as well as
military activities. He is responsible for the
maintenance and communication outside the unit.
He sees to it that all operations are direct and
accurate.
COMPANY COMMANDER
He is responsible for the discipline and
morale of his company. he is responsible
for the proper training and drills of the
unit. he sees to it that the proper
dissemination of orders is done to every
element of his scope of responsibility.
COLOR OFFICER
He is responsible for the training of the
members of the color. He is responsible
for the discipline and morale of the
members of the colors.
PLATOON LEADER
As platoon leader, He is responsible for the
discipline and morale of his platoon. He
directly responsible for the training of his men.
He sees to it that the proper dissemination of
orders must be emphasized.
