 Upon completion of this module, you should be able to:


• Connect to an Hitachi Data Ingestor (HDI) single node system using
baseboard management controller (BMC)
• Install an HDI single node system using BMC virtual media
• Install an HDI system in VMware
• Verify an HDI installation
• Prepare the Hitachi Content Platform (HCP)

BMC Setup and Usage

Set BMC Address Source

 Enter BIOS with KVM using


hosyu95 as password
 Select Server Mgmt from the
menu choices
 Arrow down to Configuration

 Supply IP address, netmask and

 Type the BMC IP address into a


browser and login with default
credentials: admin/hosyu95 or
admin/admin

be used to install HDI software

 From the remote control menu,


select the console redirection option

 Click on the Java console button to


open the remote console Java

 Make sure you have Java installed


before you attempt to launch the
BMC console

 In Java Control Panel > Security

Management Port (mng0)

 The IP of the management port will be used to access the Integrated


management console

1. Open a browser and connect to the integrated


management GUI using one of the following:

2. Log in using the following strings:
User ID = admin
Password = chang3me!

Virtual Machine Specifications

 Create a virtual machine in ESX with:


• Memory: Minimum 16GB
• CPUs: Minimum 2 virtual sockets, 1 core per socket
• Type of guest OS: Debian GNU/Linux 5 (64 bits)
• SCSI controller: LSI logic SAS
• 3x hard disks:
 HDD 1: 26GB (mandatory size) – OS disk
 HDD 2: 36GB (mandatory size) – System disk
 HDD 3: This vDisk will be used as user data (file systems), maximum size depends on the datastore VMFS
version:
o Datastore VMFS-3: 2TB maximum
o Datastore VMFS-5: 62TB maximum
o Can be added more HDDs ( Max 13 as user data), means a max capacity of 13 x 62TB = 806TB

Requirements for HDI Tenant

 Set a hard quota for the tenant capacity

 Specify settings so that the retention mode can be selected

 Enable the versioning function

 Set namespace with no quota or quota equal to required number of


namespaces plus (+) 1 (to the discretion of the HCP administrator)

 Enable MAPI (both at system level and at tenant level)

 Create a tenant user account granting to the following roles: Monitor,


Administrator, Compliance and Security

DNS Secondary Zone

 Create a secondary zone in the domain name system (DNS) server with the
FQDN (fully qualified domain name) of the HCP and the IPs of the nodes

HCP System Management Console: Firefox

1. To open the HCP system management console of HCP v7.x and 8.0 in mozilla firefox. If required you
need to change the configuration of the web browser.
2. Introduce the URL: about:config.
3. Search the following parameters:
security.ssl3.dhe_rsa_aes_128_sha
security.ssl3.dhe_rsa_aes_256_sha
and change the default values for both: true to false

HDI Tenant

 Create a tenant using the following parameters:

Tenant Name: <Select a name>


Username: security
Password: First12345
This Password will be changed on first login

Hard Quota: XX TB
(More than the size of all file systems)
Namespace quota: (Number of file systems in
the HDI) +1 or No Quota

Enabled features: Replication, Retention

HDI Tenant

 If virtual network management is enabled in HCP:


1. Create a new network definition for the
access of HDI.

2. Verify that you select


the same network for
the management
network and data
network in the tenant
definition.

Note: HDI uses MAPI (Management API): These control commands go to management network and
HDI cannot select different VLANs (virtual LANs) for MAPI and data.

 To allow HDI systems access to HCP, enable the Management API


(MAPI) at the system management console level and tenant
management console level

Change Tenant Management Password

 HDI supports a function to change the tenant management password of


HCP by HDI admin

 HDI administrator uses a tenant management account received from


HCP administrator to connect to the HCP

Note: Since HCP administrator knows the tenant management account information, it is possible that
the HDI administrator changes the tenant management account password.

 In single node, the password change is carried out in the service


configuration wizard and HCP tenant admin password dialog:
