ARCHERY

•Have you played

archery?... Do you
know how it’s
played? Today I’m
going to show you
everything about
archery.
WHAT IS ARCHERY ?

•archery is the art and sport of

using a bow to shoot arrows
into an inanimate target
• it was created for war or
hunting, but now it is created
for competitive sport or for
recreational activities. Though
the bow and arrow which is
the core items of archery can
still be used for hunting wild
animals or still be use as a
weapon in combat, it became
less popular since guns were
introduced.
BOW
1. RECURVE BOW
• the recurve bow has one arc
towards the archer, the limbs on
a recurve bow curve away at the
ends, and the recurve is also
currently the only bow type used
in Olympic Archery.
2. COMPOUND BOW
• compound bows have
metal risers and composite
limbs.  The limbs are short
and stiff and the string is
connected to a pulley
system mounted on wheels
3.LONG BOW
• the longbow is the original concept
of a bow which is made from wood
and several laminations.
4. RECURVE BAREBOW

• it is slightly the same with

the recurve bow, the only
difference is that this bow
cannot be equip with
additional equipment’s like
sights or stabilizers
ARROW
• An arrow is a
stabilized projectile that is
launched by a bow, and usually
consists of a long straight stiff
shaft with
stabilizers called fletching
TARGET ARCHERY
•target archery is the most popular form of
archery, in which members shoot at stationary
circular targets at varying distances. All types
of bow like the longbow, barebow, recurve and
compound can be used.
FIELD ARCHERY
•Field archery involves shooting at targets of varying and
often unmarked distance, typically in woodland and
rough terrain. As well as being a sport in its own right, it
can be used to improve the techniques and abilities
required for a realistic outdoor setting, in here longbow
and compound bow can only be used.
OBJECTIVE
• the main objective of the competition is to shoot your
arrows as close to the center as possible, and make the
highest points, the one who has the highest total score
to accumulate will be the winner, shooting your arrow at
the center of the target will give you ten points, the
more your arrows gets far at the center, the less points
will be given.
RULES OF THE GAME
• 1. the maximum time permitted to shoot is only
two minutes when you’re only going to shoot
three arrows and 4 minutes if six arrows
• 2. players may not raise their bow arm until the
start signal is given, their will be penalties if
they raise it without the signal
• 3. arrows cannot be re-shot, unless it falls accidently on
the bow, if the target blow or falls over additional time
will be given

• 4.if the arrows bounces off on the target, the score will be
based on where the mark is
• 5. players can be disqualified, have points deducted or
be banned from playing depending on how severe
the offence is
• 6. if their equipment is damage they
can appeal to the judge so that they
can replace their equipment or be
fixed
BENEFITS
•it improves your focus
since that you’ll be
always focus at aiming
at the target, you will
get use to it and remain
focus especially on high
pressure situations
• it improves your hand-eye
coordination Archery trains
your hands to aim based on
the feedback from your eyes.
With continuous practice and
repetition your coordination
becomes better. The better
coordination an archer has,
the better the aiming
• is it improves your
social skills since you’ll
be talking to your
teammates during
group archery or talk to
different players.
• you will be more
confident because
Archery provides a boost
of self-esteem to archers
when they see their
mental and physical skills
improving during practice
and tournaments
