“Showing an Interest
in Others”
Let us develop the art of listening so we draw
out the best of others and learn from their
nobility of spirit.
Let us cultivate solidarity so we identify with
others' dreams and aspirations and share
their joys and sorrows.
Complicate your life with the life of others and
be ever ready to help them even though all
you can offer is a prayer.
I. The need to be trustworthy
A. Being part of a community, man has to win the
confidence of the others in order to be trusted
by them.
B. It is necessary that one works harmoniously
with others and this can only be measured
when one proves himself worthy of self-esteem.
C. There is better efficiency if there is mutual trust
among colleagues (examples in school).
D. When one is trusted one can do more.
II. Establishing Friendship
A. Friendship comes about by the mutual trust between people.
B. It is out of trust that one is led to confide one’s hopes, plans,
desires, and even secrets plainly and simply to a friend with
ease.
1. To listen to a friend and not to give a speech.
2. To respect the capabilities of others together with their
weaknesses.
C. Let us be not afraid to everyone by winning their trust and
confidence so that we can reach, deal with and help more
people in our small way.
D. Trust, as well as other strains of virtues—brings about
“Pakikisama” which is beautiful Filipino custom that leads
others to cooperate to do something good.
