Optimizing Wireless Network for Websprix

This document outlines the design and optimization of a wireless network for Websprix Company. It begins with an introduction describing the interference challenges faced and the objectives of optimizing coverage, capacity, and cost. It then reviews literature on cognitive radio and wired/wireless ADSL technologies. The methodology section describes the radio link planning process including coverage and capacity planning. System components are identified including edge routers, switches, and wireless transmission equipment. Bandwidth requirements are calculated to be 600KHz per residential client.

Introduction
Wireless communication involves the transmission
of information over the air by radio waves, which
radiate and propagate through space.
Interference management is at the heart of
wireless regulation and is essential for maintaining
a desirable throughput while avoiding the
detrimental impact of interference at the undesired
receivers.
…Introduction
Our work is incorporated within the
framework of interference network.
The goal is to resolve the challenges that
Websprix wireless sites face by taking into
account the achievable data rate and
corresponding cost of network components.
…Introduction
Problem Statement
In Websprix IT solution plc, wireless
communication is being expelled from the market
and the company is giving up on it.
This is because of intra signal interference and
inter-signal interference.
…Introduction
intra signal interference is resulted from
overlapping of signals with signals from other
internet service provider (ISPs) and solved by
communicating and negotiating with corresponding
internet service provider (ISPs).
Inter signal interference is caused between the
signals in wireless sites of Websprix itself and cause
minimization of throughput at receiving station.
…Introduction
clients are complaining about the quality and
speed of the internet.
it is not designed in cost effective manner and this
leads the service to become unprofitable.
Consequently, the company decided to deploy
only wired (using fiber cable) sites, which will lead
them to invest high amount of money.
…Introduction
The proper implementation of the project can
overcome the above problems for Websprix
company.
Objective
General Objective
The main objective of the project is to optimally
design interference free wireless network for
Websprix IT solution.
…Introduction
Specific Objectives
To understand the wireless network design on,
wireless network engineering Software, airlink.
To maximize capacity and coverage area of a given
access point.
To design the network by overcoming interference
and increase the throughput.
To minimize the cost by designing the network
optimally.
…Introduction
Significance of the Project
The Company gain the following advantages from
this project.
The inter signal interference between the sites of
the company will be overcome.
The throughput of the user will be increased and
the customer of the company will satisfied.
…Introduction
The wireless network design of the company is
optimized so the company use the wireless
communication to provide service for their
customer, which cover large area and save money
when compared to fiber optic communication.
…Introduction
Scope and Limitation of the Project
Scope
Our project mainly deals with Optimization
techniques for wireless site of Websprix Company.
Limitation
If buildings or other obstructions with higher height
than Fresnel height happens in between of
transmitting and receiving antenna, there will be
obstruction of link.
Literature review
Cognitive radio (CR)
is a technology, which can solve the scarcity and
inefficiency of spectrum usage.
It achieves this target by enabling the licensed and
unlicensed users to share the same spectrum
…Literature review
 The unlicensed system determines the level of
signals and noise in each frequency band and
properly adjusts the spectrum and power
allocations.
Cognitive radio networks maximizes the
unlicensed system capacity for the optimal
spectrum and power allocations.
…Literature review
however, unlicensed user must minimize the
power interference produced on the licensed user.
Wired ADSL and Wireless ADSL
There are various drawbacks and concerns
associated with wired ADSL technology.
Which include installation issues, maintenance
problems, space management, cost.
…Literature review
The line is susceptible to noise due to, for
example, moisture, corrosion, and cross talk, all of
which can affect its performance.
The subscriber’s location needs to be within about
5 km from the telephone exchange.
The greater the distance away from the exchange,
the less is the speed of data transfer.
…Literature review
Small problems in telephone line can cause
problem to wired ADSL connection.
User may experience slow bandwidth during
telephone usage (depends on signal strength and
distance).
line testing for wired ADSL takes a long time.
…Literature review
a convenient alternative to Wired ADSL is wireless
ADSL technology due to which recently the
conventional wired technologies are rapidly being
replaced by wireless technologies.
By using wireless ADSL networks a greater
distance can be achieved as well as noise can be
reduced better.
…Literature review
The cross talk can never be reduced to zero for
wired ADSL network, also network coverage is
limited.
In wireless ADSL, there is no cross talk and the
distance coverage can also be increased.
Methodology
Radio link planning process
The main aim of radio network planning is to provide a
cost-effective solution for the radio network in terms of
coverage, capacity and quality.
The Network planning process and design criteria vary
from region to region depending upon the dominating
factor, which could be capacity or coverage.
A simplified process just for radio network planning is
shown in Figure below

…Methodology
Coverage and Capacity Planning
Coverage planning
The objective of coverage planning phase in
coverage limited network areas is to find a
minimum amount of cell sites with optimum
locations for producing the required coverage for
the target area.
…Methodology
Coverage planning is normally performed with
prediction modules on digital map database.
Capacity planning
defines the number of base stations required and
their respective capacities.
Capacity plans are made in the pre-planning phase
for initial estimations, as well as later in a detailed
manner.

Bandwidth requirement
In our design, we used 1024-QAM digital modulation
techniques, which is high data rate capability and high
bandwidth efficiency.
B=
we can find the value of 𝑛 and required bandwidth for one
customer as follows:
𝑛 = log2 𝑀
= log2 1024
= 10
…Introduction
For residential purpose the required bandwidth for
one client is:
𝐵 = 2(3𝑀𝑏𝑝𝑠) /10
= 600𝐾𝐻𝑧
a. For 40 MHz
40𝑀𝐻𝑧 /600𝐾𝐻𝑧 = 66
Hence, 66 customers can be addressed
…Introduction
b. For 20MHz
20𝑀𝐻𝑧 /600𝐾𝐻𝑧 = 33
Hence, it can support 33 customers
ii. For business sites the required bandwidth for one
customer is:
𝐵 = 2(5𝑀𝑏𝑝𝑠) /10 = 1000𝐾𝐻
…Introduction
c. For 80MHz
80𝑀𝐻𝑧 /1𝑀𝐻𝑧 = 80
Therefore, 80 customer can be supported
d. For 40MHz
40𝑀𝐻𝑧 /1𝑀𝐻𝑧 = 40
We can conclude that, 40 customers can be
addressed
…Introduction
In order to avoid interference, we allocate different
frequency range for different access points. But for the
sake of efficient utilization of bandwidth, we used
frequency reuse technique to assign frequency for each
antennas. But it is not random allocation; Beamwidth and
heading of antenna are putted in to account. This insures
that signals with same frequency spectrum will not
overlap each other. That means, no interference! This is
illustrated in the following scenario.
…Introduction
We use bandwidth of 5270-5290 for both CMC-
AP45-01 and CMC-AP60-03. Let us proof it is right to
use frequency reuse technique using their headings.
CMC-AP45-01 has heading of 352 degree and beam
width of 45 degree , this means the main lobe
propagate at this heading.
…Introduction
But the propagation angle range is 352° ± 22.5° =
329.5 - 374.5 or 14.5
CMC-AP60-03 has heading of 152° and beam width
of 60° Propagation angle range is
= 152° ± 30° = 122° – 182°
122° - 14.5° = 107.5° and 329.5°– 182°= 147.5°
