The document is a lesson plan on teaching students how to calculate the area of triangles. It begins by showing the students pictures of different triangles and asking them questions to engage them. It then introduces the formula for calculating the area of a triangle, which is Area = 1/2 x base x height. Examples are worked through to demonstrate how to apply the formula. Students are then given practice problems to solve. Finally, word problems are presented for students to apply their understanding of calculating triangle area.

Good day children! Welcome to Mathematics class. I have
some pictures to show you. Take a look at the pictures
carefully because afterwards I have some question for you
to answer.

http://canstock.com(11-15-2017)
http://pxleyes.com(11-15-2017)

http://pxleyes.com(11-15-2017)
Now that you’ve seen all the pictures, let me
ask you some questions:

1. What do you see in the first picture? In the

second picture? In the third picture?

2. What common shape that can be seen in

the three pictures?

3. Do you know how to find the area of

triangles?
Today we will learn how to solve word problems involving
measurements of area of triangles. Our buddy here
“Tatsulok” will help us.

Hi buddies! We have three things to do today.

1. We should know the parts of triangles.
2. Use the formula in finding the area of
triangles.
3. We will solve problems involving
measurement of surface area of
rectangles.

http://classroomclipart.com(11-15-2017)
Okay Buddies, these are the parts of a
triangle. The base is the side of the
triangle facing down and the height is the
distance from the base up to the
uppermost surface of the triangle.

The formula of finding the area of a triangle is:

Area of Triangle = x base x height

Example:
So, A= x 10 cm x 7 cm

7 cm A= x 2

10 cm
A=

A= 35 cm

Thank you for that wonderful explanation and
example “Tatsulok”! And now it’s your turn to try
to find the area of the following triangles.
Remember the formula that “Tatsulok” had teach
you A= x base x height. You need a piece of
paper to do these. Enjoy!

You’re doing great! Now that you know how to find the area of
triangles, let us apply it in solving word problems involving
measurement of the area of triangles. These are the steps in
problem solving:
1. You have to know what is asked.
2. What are the given numbers
3. Then write the number sentence
4. Lastly, perform the mathematical operation to obtain the
answer.

You can do it Buddy!

A triangular shape gemstone has a base
of 15 cm and a height of 12 cm. What is
the area of the triangular gemstone?

us.

Let’s find out how much you have learned!

A farmer owned a cornfield. His field is a

triangular shape land. It has a base of 1500 m
and a height of 600 m. He wanted to know the
area of his cornfield. What do you think is the

a b A triangle is a 3-sided polygon sometimes (but not very commonly) called the trigon. Every triangle has
three sides and three angles, some of which may be the same. The sides of a triangle are given special
names in the case of a right triangle, with the side opposite the right angle being termed the hypotenuse
and the other two sides being known as the legs. All triangles are convex and bicentric. That portion of
