Rapido
About Company
Rapido is India’s first and largest bike taxi
operator in India, having captured roughly
20% of the entire ride-sharing segment.
Founded in 2015 and headquartered in
the tech hub of Bangalore, Rapido has
now expanded to close to 100 cities across
India. To date, the company’s 1.5 million
captains (driver-partners) serve more than
15 million registered customers with their
door-to-door transportation and delivery
services, accumulating well over 50 million
rides and a total of over 250 million
kilometers.
Four in 10 of the world’s most congested cities are in India. Rapido’s bike taxis offer flexible
mobility while bridging last-mile connectivity gaps in cities with underdeveloped public
transportation infrastructure. Furthermore, Rapido provides an additional income source for
its driver-partners and their families, allowing them to participate in a fast-growing app
ecosystem-enabled market.

• Post lockdown, it had to shift its business model from offering bikes
and taxies from consumers to distributors. It is also working with
Zomato, Swiggy, Myntra, Big Basket,Big Bazaar.

Challenges
• Probably the greatest test that Rapido confronted was changing the client's
perceptions. "Many individuals were vigilant that bike rides were unsafe. So, we
dispatched protection from day zero. The application was in-worked with a system
to track the speed of the captain. He would be deactivated if by any chance he
went past a specific speed," Aravind says. There are situations where the
consumer would not get protective helmets or have grievances about the captain.
• However, in the territory of Karnataka, these online bike taxi provider
organisations are confronting plenty of issues. Prior, for a half year, Ola taxis were
prohibited and their permit was suspended. A substantial fine of approximately 15
lakhs was forced on them. According to the transport department of the state,
they have presented letters on both Ola and Rapido to stop their bike taxi
administrations as according to a report in July 2018. The number of lives lost in
street mishaps in the city arrived at 3250, while the number of bike mishaps was at
its maximum.
