Descriptive Text

What is Descriptive Text?
1. Definition : A text which says what a person or a thing is like.
2. Purpose : To describe and reveal a particular person, place,
or thing.
3. Generic Structure :
• Identification : Identifying the phenomenon to described.
• Description : Describing the phenomenon in parts, qualities,
or/ and characteristic.
Example :
My Lovely Cat

• (Identification) 
I have a stray cat as my pet. 
 
• (Description) 
He is really playful, He loved to play with me and the new things
he found. He has orange and white fur, his fur is so soft and I like
to rubs it for him. He has a long tail. He likes to play with it. He is
also always try to catch his tail sometimes. I also like to hold him
in my hand, when i hold him like that he will fall asleep.
Language Features
• Noun (Kata Benda)
e.g. : My Bestfriend, Borobudur Temple
• Simple Present Tense
e.g. : Shinta is beautiful, My house has 2 living rooms.
• Adjective (Kata Sifat)
e.g. : Beautiful, Expensive, Clever
• Figurative Language
e.g. : Her skin is as white as cloud.
Descriptive Text about Person
My Chairmate

I has best friend in my classroom. I share a chair with her. Her


name is Dewi Irmaya. I always calling her Dewi. Dewi has small
family. She lives with her parent and two sister. She always
playing with them in park or garden. Dewi and I always share
about what is being experienced. She is patient, friendly, and
helpfull. she also like to eat fried potato in restaurant. That’s my
best chairmate.
Descriptive Text about Animal
Elephant

Elephant is a herbivore animal and eat all almost all of the


vegetables and fruits. They have almost hairless skin, wide ears,
four legs, and long trunk. Elephants is known as the largest
mammals. The elephants also have very sharp auditory because
they have big and wide ears. By these ears, they can hear sounds
from a distance about tens kilometer. At the back of the ears, they
have one of the softest parts of their body which is called the
knuckle. In a zoo, Mahouts (elephant trainers) use their feet to
steer or give commands to the animal via that knuckle. Now, they
are a kind of protected animals because their population remains
little in their habitat. Their population began to decline year by
year.

My Classroom
 
My classroom is big, eat, neat, and clean. It is about 10x9 meters.
The wall color is white. There are four glass doors and 6 windows.
There are thirty desks for students and two desks for teachers.
One teacher desk is in front of the class and another one is in the
back. The students’ desks are grey and light blue. While the
teachers’ desks are white and brown. All desks are made of wood
and iron. There are two bookshelves and two whiteboards in
front of the class. I feel really comfortable to study in my
classroom.

Borobudur Temple
 
Borobudur temple is one of the most beautiful tourist resorts in
Indonesia. It is situated in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. It is
a well known nineteenth century Mahayana Buddhist Temple.
The landmark comprises of six square, nine stacked stages, and 3
handouts, beat by a focal vault. The sanctuary is enhanced with
2,672 alleviation boards and 504 Buddha statues. The focal vault
is covered by 72 Buddha statues, each situated inside a
punctured stupa. It is the world’s biggest Buddhist sanctuary on
the world.
There are two ways to describe people
