Introduction
What is personality?
Personality is a set of characteristics /qualities that distinguishes one
individual from another. It is a set of physical and mental
characteristics that reflects how a person looks, feels, thinks and acts
Why is it important?

• For Building relationships

• For self improvement

• For creating a unique identity


What is Personality Grooming?
• The actions taken to make yourself
presentable, friendly, approachable.

• All the necessary steps you take to


improve and shape your inner self and
your outer self, so that you bring a
positive change to your life, and are
ready to take on the world.

• To polish yourself, to strengthen your


skills, and to understand your own self.
Why do we need Personality Grooming?
• To gain a lot of confidence and strength.
• When you understand and improve yourself, it helps in improving your
communication with the others
• Helps make new connections, thereby improving knowledge, and gain new
talent
• Adding more grace and style to how you look
• Aware of etiquette and manners
• Helps absorb positivity, and hopes and courage to face the
challenges of the world, and thereby gain more opportunities
ACTIVITY I
• Work in pairs and write about the first impression that you get
about your partner.
• Suggest her the areas that she has to improve so that she
presents herself better.

Tips to groom your outer self
• Make use of the SUN
• Dry your pillows in the sun periodically
• Choose clean and washed bed covers and blankets
• Dry your towels in the sun
• Keep the clothes dry and non-smelly

• Wash your hair periodically and comb neatly
• Avoid flashy clothes, and pick pleasant colors and style
• Minimal make-up makes you look real, pleasant, and very approachable
• Minimal jewelry and accessories work well if you participate in external events
• You need not empty your pockets to look presentable
• Use harmless products that keep you clean and odor-free from top to bottom
• Do not wear perfumes that have pungent or intense fragrance – mild ones
with pleasant smell would do

• You really don’t know who is observing you and when
• Do not bite nails or pick your nose thinking that no one is watching
• Drink a lot of water
• It is very important to have good routine of using the toilets – keep your
stomach clean
• Make sure to clean your mouth after every meal
• What you eat decides how clean your skin, stomach, and mouth are
• Sleep early and well (at least for 7 to 8 hours)

• Surround yourself with good people
• Spend considerable time introspecting
• Keep a journal (diary)
• Wake up early – Morning weaves its own
magic
• Pray/Meditate – any form of prayer
• Include some exercise regimen as part of your
everyday morning routine
• Listen to soothing music
• Sing and dance like nobody is watching

• Keep a list of everything you are grateful for


• Help others – there is no greater joy than the joy of giving
• Pick books and articles that help build positive attitude
• Avoid random TV watching
• Help family with everyday chores – there is no point in changing the world without
helping people at home first
• Do odd jobs and save some money
• Think about those who don’t have any of the things and facilities that you have. Be kind.
ACTIVITY II
• Having known the tips to groom their inner and outer self, ask
the students to have an action plan of what habits are they to
inculcate so that they groom themselves better?
Grooming is all about making yourself
presentable to the others. The relationship
is established only when there is
grooming of you outer and inner self, as
well as there exist harmony between both.
It is really important for you to nurture
both your outer and inner self.
