There are five main seasons: Advent, Christmas, Ordinary Time, Lent, and Easter. Each season has a particular theme and liturgical color, and concentrates on different aspects of the Bible and parts of Christ's life, such as awaiting the Messiah in Advent or celebrating Christ's birth at Christmas. The liturgical year repeats in a cycle and uses different religious practices to mark the paschal mystery of Jesus.
