Introduction
• Internet of Things is a human-designed technology.
• IoT is a network of sensors,
appliances and devices.
• Permit the devices to interact
automatically without human’s
control.
• IoT has many Applications in the
field of civil engineering such as
Buildings, roads, bridges, railways,
etc.
What is IoT ?
• Internet of Things encompasses all
physical things that connect to the
internet and to other devices.
Role IoT play in
construction industry :
IoT is transforming every facet
of the building
How we build them
How we inhabit them
How we manage them
Role IoT play in The goal of loT in the
construction industry : construction sector may
be defined as the use of
technologically based
devices and equipment to
ensure optimal use of
available resources with
correct technological
planning and regulated
expenses at the cost of
minimal and low risks.

Architecture of IoT :
The architecture of an IoT system can be
described as A four-stage process.
Stage 1: Sensors and Actuators – Sensing layer
Stage 2: Internet Gateways and Data
Acquisition Systems –Network layer
Stage 3: Pre-processing: Analytics at the Edge
– Data Processing layer
Stage 4: In-depth Analysis in the Cloud or Data
Center – Application layer

Conclusion :
IoT adoption is unlikely to replace the human element in construction.
• Instead, it will alter business models in the industry, reduce expensive
errors, reduce worksite injuries and make building operations more
efficient.
• There is a growing demand for smart buildings — buildings that are
designed to use automated processes that can automatically control
things like heating, air conditioning, and lighting.
• Smart buildings help with routine maintenance and can identify
potential problems in a system.
• They’re also very helpful for reducing energy waste and are valued for
their lowered environmental impact.
