• Organization structure of hospital  Every hospital whether it is


large or small has an organizational structure that allows for the
efficient management.  Hospital administration is most efficient
management popular subfield or health administration and
management. These are vital to ensure that medical facilities run
efficiently and take quality care.  Administrators are responsible to
manage the business operations and taking care of staffing, public
relations, patient rights with the management of budget, finances
and other administrative tasks.  Understanding the organizational
structure of a hospital is important because it provides an idea
about the responsibility of every person for each area of hospital.

• An Organizational structure 1. Government Council or Board of Trustees 2. Administrative
services – President, Vice president, Executive Assistant. 3. Informative services – Admission,
Medical records, Billing, Information system, Educators, Human resources. 4. Therapeutic
services – Speech pathology, Respiratory therapy, Psychologist, Music Art, Pharmacy. 5.
Diagnostic services – Medical laboratory, Medical imaging, Emergency medicine 6. Support
services – Central supply, Biomedical technology, Housekeeping and maintenance.
• Administrative services Administration manage and supervise the operation of all
departments. 1. To supervise budgeting and finance. 2. To establish hospital policies and
procedures. 3. To perform public relation duties. Hospital administration includes – 1.
Hospital President (Dean) 2. Vice President 3. Executive Assistant 4. Department head.
• Information services It includes documents and process information.  Admission – It
includes obtaining vital information regarding patients like full name, address, phone no,
date of birth, admitting doctor and all the insurance information.  Billing and Collection
Department – It is responsible for billing of service offered to patients and collection of
payments.  Medical Insurance Claim Department – A cashless claim facility is used when
patient under medical treatment acquires health. In some hospital, insured patients are
asked to pay all the expenses of hospital and after discharge patient claim for
reimbursement.  Medical Records – It deals with maintaining all the records and reports
and maintain its copies for future reference.  Information service – It involves to provide
information about drugs and dosage form through computers and hospital networks. 
Health Education – It concern with health education to employee staff and care of patients in
the hospital.
• Therapeutic services  Physical therapy – It helps to improve large muscle mobility and reduce or prevent permanent
disability. It helps to recover patient by treatment of exercise, ultrasound, massage and electrical stimulation. 
Occupation therapy – This therapy is used to treat the patient to regain fine motor skills so that they can work. It helps
to develop balance coordination, assist emotional health, hand and eye coordination.  Speech/Language therapy –
This service provides to identify,evaluate and treat the patients having speech or language disability efficiently. 
Respiratory therapy – It provides treatment for patients with heart and lung diseases. It supports treatment of oxygen,
medication, breathing exercise to patients.  Medical Psychology services – It concern with mental and wellbeing of
patients. Treatment includes talk therapy, relaxation of muscles, medication through dosage form, recreation therapies
like art,craft and dance.
•  Social services – It helps patients by referring them to community resources for living assessment like medical,
financial.  Pharmacy services – It provides information of drug and correct way to administer them and helps to ensure
drug compatibility.  Dietary services – It is responsible for managing diets and help patient to maintain nutritionally
sound.  Sports medicine services – They provide exercise, rehabilitative services to athletes, advice proper nutrition,
improve strength and flexibility of athlete. They protect athlete during sport injury.  Nursing services – It provide care
for patients as directed by physicians. The nurses play vital role in surgical room, gynac hospital, emergency room and
other departments like surgical department, maternity department, pathology department, dental and Intensive Care
Unit.
• Diagnostic services This services determines the causes of illness or injury. It includes the following department – 1.
Medical Laboratory – This service concern with diagnosis of diseases based on blood, urine, stool and body tissues. 2.
Imaging – By use of image service for body parts the lesion and abnormalities are determined. Example. MRI, CT, X-Ray,
ultrasound. 3. Emergency Medicine – It provides emergency diagnosis and treatment for patients.
• Support services They include responsibilities like maintaining blood bank and should provide blood to patients who
are needed. This service provides support to entire hospital includes following department – 1. Central supply – It
sterilize medical instruments and supplies during treatment or major complexity. It cleans clothing or gowns of patients
and maintain hospital bedsheets clean. 2. Biomedical technology – These services provide the design of biomedical and
build their equipment for treatment. Using this services, diagnosis detective equipment and its repair is possible. 3.
Housekeeping and maintenance – It maintains a safe and clean environment in and outside of the hospital.

management of hospital departments.  The structure helps one understand the hospital’s chain of
command.
• Organizational structure varies from hospital to hospital.  Large hospitals have complex
