WE USE PAST SIMPLE FOR:
1. an action at a definite time in the past. (ČAS JE ZNAN)
- Mozart died in 1791.

2. actions happening immediately one after another in the past.


- First he paid the driver, then he got out of the taxi.
- The thief broke the window and entered the house.

3. past habits/routines which are now finished. (ZAKLJUČENO DEJANJE)


- Kitchens were/used to be very different a hundred years ago.
- When they were children, they lived/used to live in a small house.
PRESENT PERFECT
+ I‘ve been to London seven times.
- I haven‘t been to London four times.
? Have you been to London?
WE USE PRESENT PERFECT FOR:
1. Talking about an experience up to now. (IZKUŠNJA IZ PRETEKLOSTI, KI ŠE TRAJA)
I’ve been to London six times.

2. Talking about a result. (REZULTAT)


She has painted the ceiling.

3. We talk about the past and don‘t know the time (ČAS NI ZNAN, POMEMBEN)
I’ve met Julia Roberts.

Present perfect ponavadi uporabljamo z besedami SINCE (od), FOR (že), ALREADY (že), YET (še), JUST (ravnokar).
