Research Log – Make notes please
• Is a document that is submitted with your project
• Shows how you have planned, reviewed and monitored your
progress
• Main aim = how and why your project developed the way it did
• Should be completed AT LEAST once a week. Ideally every time
you do work on your project

Evaluation of the usefulness of the source (credibility/reliability)
How the research fits/doesn’t fit your current plan
Useful quotes from your research
Questions to answer or ask your teacher/s
Suggestions or ideas your teacher/s give you
What you are going to do next
Reminders to self
Comments on any changes you make

• Look at the example research log I have given you
• Annotate the key features
• Evaluate the log – have they included everything on the checklist?
• What feedback would you give?
Your Research Log
Task One
• Create a template for your Research Log
• Complete at least one entry for this week using your homework
research
Homework: Due Wednesday
Research at least 3 different sources connected to your topic using the
Project Q list or books from the library.
1. Write down the title/author/website
2. Write down why you are reading it (see the Project Q handout)
3. Make detailed notes IN YOUR OWN WORDS (at least one page
for each source). The format is up to you – e.g. bullet points,
mind maps, tables etc.
4. If you use a quote make sure you use quotation marks and add
who said it and a page number or website
Don’t forget to record what you do in your Research Log!
