Altitude Training - Presentation

The document discusses altitude training and hypoxic tents. It explains that at high altitudes, the barometric pressure and partial pressure of oxygen are lower than at sea level. In the short term, this causes reduced performance, but in the long term it stimulates physiological adaptations like increased red blood cell count that can enhance performance. Hypoxic tents simulate high altitude by reducing oxygen concentration in a sealed tent, allowing athletes to receive altitude training benefits without traveling to altitude.

HYPOXIC TENT The altitude tent remains at the ambient air pressure,
substituting low pressure for low concentration of oxygen.
While normal air contains 20.9% oxygen independent of
altitude, the air in an altitude tent contains as little as 12%
oxygen.

An altitude tent is one way to
enable athletes living at any
elevation to sleep in a high
altitude-like environment
