Microscope

A microscope is a tool used to see small organisms and objects that are invisible to the naked eye. It has three main parts based on their functions: magnifying parts like the objective and eyepiece lenses, illuminating parts like the mirror and condenser, and mechanical parts that support and adjust the optics like the stage and body tube. The document then provides instructions on how to properly use a microscope, including adjusting parts, carrying it, changing magnifications, and calculating total magnification.

(Parts and Functions)
MICROSCOPE
It is a tool that is used
to see organisms or
objects that are too
small to be seen by
naked eye.

Diaphragm
Controls the amount of light reaching
the specimen
Condenser
Used to collect and focus the light from the
illuminator on the specimen
Mirror
Used to reflect light from an external light
source up through the bottom of the stage.

A microscope is a tool which can help
you see tiny objects and living
organisms. It comprises of three major
parts based on their functions:
magnifying, illuminating, and
mechanical parts.

How to use the
MICROSCOPE?
Pointers in Using the Microscope
1. Always carry and transport the
microscope in an upright position by using
both hands.
2. Always set the microscope away from the
edge of the working table.
3. When revolving the nosepiece to change
the magnification, raise the body tube
using the coarse adjustment knob
beforehand.
Pointers in Using the Microscope
4. Adjust the diaphragm, condenser
and mirror to have a cleaner view of
the specimen.
5. Do not incline the microscope when
using a wet mount.
6. Always keep the microscope dry.
7. Keep the lenses of the eyepiece and
objective lenses clean

MAGNIFICATION
• Ability to enlarge an image of the object’s
apparent size but not changing the actual
physical size

• The specimen increases its area by the

square of its magnification
MAGNIFICATION

MAGNIFICATION
Formula:
Magnification of specimen = magnification of eyepiece x magnification of objective
Magnification of specimen = 10x x 10x
Magnification of specimen = 100x
