Mamma Mia
Final reflection
Em :)
What did you Learn About Each of the
Three Disciplines Associated with
Musical Theatre?
Dancing
Going into this, I was a little worried about dancing, I haven’t danced in years before this, and I thought I would have a
difficult time remembering everything. I ended up having a lot of fun and enjoyed dancing. I learned that it is easier
when you stop worrying too much and just have fun with it.
Acting
I also didn’t realize how regardless of if you have lines or not you are ALWAYS acting when you are on stage. I learned
how to create a character and stick to it.
Singing
Finally, I learned to control my breathing better when I dance, I had a habit of not breathing properly but I worked hard
on it and overcame it.
What did you Something I learned
was that it is a lot

harder than it seems. It
is easy to struggle with
forgetting words or
Musical Theatre in actions and there is a
lot you have to think
about all at once. I
General? learned to memorize
scenes and dances.
What was your Biggest
Struggle this Semester?
How did you Overcome
it?
I think my biggest struggle was being
unmotivated and putting things to the last
minute. I took a while to learn my notes and
words to the songs when I shouldve done it
faster. I eventually learned them and used the
app to figure it out.
What did you Learn About Yourself as
a Performer?
I learned that I am a quick thinker. When something went wrong on stage or was out of place, I quickly thought of
ways that I could help fix it or keep going regardless of what was happening. There were times where something
was wrong, but I found a way out of it and kept going. I was a lot more hardworking than I thought I was.
What was Different in Yourself Once
you presented in Front of an
Audience? How did you Surprise
Yourself as a Performer?
I surprised myself because I thought that I would
have more stage fright then I did but when I got on
stage, I wasn’t scared at all. I had much more energy
and positivity when I was in front of an audience. I
carried myself more confidently and was more
confident in general.
In what Area
did you Grow
the Most?
I grew the most in singing. Before I
wasn’t super confident and didn’t
have great breathing control. By the
end of this I felt much better about
my abilities and sound.
What was Your Favorite Moment?
In class? In the play?
● One of my favorite moments
● I enjoyed singing behind the

as a group.
What Would you
do Differently?
I think if I got the chance I would’ve re done my
audition. I was nervous and even at the callback I
didn’t have a lot of confidence. If I could, I would
go back and re do the audition process more
confidently.
If you Were to Take Another Musical
Theatre Class, What Area Would you
Want to Improve?
I would want to improve in my acting.
Sometimes I accidently over acted or just
wasn’t realistic. I would take the acting part
more seriously and work to get better at it.
In the Process of Creating the Show
what was Something that…
Was difficult
Worked well
Was missing
● Something that was difficult
● Something that worked well for me was the long dancing
is when we did our first few rehearsals. I didn’t have
run-throughs even if they enough stamina to get
were sloppy. It helped give a through them with the same
better picture of the order energy I started with.
and where you need to be. Something missing was
maybe more bonding/get to
know each other activities. I
found I didn’t know very
many people till near the end
of the play
What was the Process of
Becoming your Character?
When I created the character sheet, I had different
ideas then I ended up. Creating my own character
took a lot of trial and error and even to know how I
was in front of an audience. By the end I had a
strong, set-in stone character I stuck by
Importance of Observation, Listening,
Concentration and Trust.
● It is very important to be present not only
physically but also mentally. If you do not
pay attention or listen, you can miss
important information. It is also important
to trust because you won't be able to grow
without it. Physical trust is also important
for things like lifts and dancing.
● Observation skills help you become a
better actor, if you know what is going on
around you, you can know the appropriate
response.
Theatre professionalism and ensemble
support.
At one point during under attack, Bella was very sick. I believe that she was forgetting the words due to physical
stress, or stress on her voice. Something I noticed that we as the ensemble did was support her by singing all parts
and being loud so she can go along with the song. At one point I made eye contact with other people on stage, and I
think we all decided to take it into our hands and help as much as we could. We supported her and made sure
everything still went according to plan regardless of what was going on. It ended up going as well as it could’ve,
and I was very happy with everyone's support and especially Bella's determination.
Skills that can be Used in your Daily
Life.
Skills used in rehearsal like, listening ability, determination, focus and hard work can all also be used in daily life
settings. It is important to use those skills in class and out of class and it was good practice even for other theatre
projects.
Overall, this was a very good experience and I do not regret it. Through ups and downs, it taught me a lot and was
very productive.
