Language Across The Curriculum

This document discusses the principles of language across the curriculum (LAC). LAC allows students to apply their existing foreign language knowledge outside of language classrooms. The aims of LAC are to support language development in all domains and activities. LAC is important because learning depends on language, but language cannot be effectively learned without context. The concept of LAC involves using the language classroom as well as other subject classrooms to break boundaries between subjects. The goals of LAC are to develop listening, speaking, writing, viewing, shaping, watching and moving skills.
