● Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) - is the standard markup language for creating
Web pages. HTML describes the structure of a Web page.
● File transfer protocol (FTP) is a way to download, upload, and transfer files from one
location to another on the Internet and between computer systems.
● Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a markup language based on Standard
Generalized Markup Language (SGML) used for defining markup languages. XML's
primary function is to create formats for data that is used to encode information for
documentation, database records, transactions and many other types of data.
● Resource Description Framework (RDF) - is a general framework for representing
interconnected data on the web.
● RDF Schema (RDFS) - is a set of classes with certain properties using the RDF
extensible knowledge representation data model, providing basic elements for the
description of ontologies.
● Web Ontology Language (OWL) - is a family of knowledge representation languages
for authoring ontologies.

- Media Sharing. These are sites that allow you to
upload and share media content like images,
music, and video. Media sharing sites can be
specific for video sharing, photo sharing, slide
sharing, social bookmarking, and gaming.
- Microblogging. These are sites that focus on
short updates from the user. Those subscribed to
the user will be able to receive these updates.
Posts are brief that range typically from 140 –
200 characters.
- Blogs and Forums. These are websites that allow
users to post their content. Other users can
comment on the said topic.
