compositions that have adopted ideas and elements from
20th-century art music in the west, as well as the latest
trends and musical styles in the entertainment industry.”

• He is a Filipino musician, arranger, singer, composer, and conductor.
• He graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Music with a
bachelor’s degree in music composition and went on to teach music theory and
composition there for almost two decades.
• In the music industry, he transitioned from styles of traditional music to
contemporary music, bridging the gap between traditional to 21st century, that’s why
he is known as a “Transition Composer.”
• He was a 2004's Gawad CCP para sa Sining in Music.
• He was recently awarded as the National Artist for Music (2018).
• Composer of the famous compositions Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika,

Restie Umali
was a composer, teacher, and musical arranger. He arranged the
Philippine national anthem. He wrote a total of more or less 120
movie theme songs. Major Compositions: Mga Anghel Na
Walang Langit, Saan Ka Man Naroroon
