• A. Parallelism in a series of words
• The parallel words must be the same parts of
speech.
• e.g. 1. The man is honest, kind, and sincere.
• 2. The junior students will plan, organize, and
evaluate the events for this month.

• B. Parallelism in a series of phrases
• A phrase is a group of words that does not contain
a finite verb, which expresses a single idea by
itself but cannot stand alone.
• e.g. 1.The new computer software enhances
speed, improves accuracy and lessens work in the
office.
• 2. The throne of a queen, the elegance of a
palace, or the brilliance of diamonds is nothing
compared to her radiant beauty.
• C. Parallelism in a series of clauses
• The clause is a division of a sentence that
contains a complete thought and may or may not
stand alone as a main or subordinate clause
respectively.
• e.g. 1. We need people who cannot be
intimidated, who are not concerned about
building an image, and who do not sell the future
for the grandeur of the present.
