1 Samuel 13:14
14 But now your kingdom will not
endure; the Lord has sought out a man
after his own heart and appointed
him ruler of his people, because you
have not kept the Lord’s command.
A HEART
QUALITIES
1. A HEART INFLAMED BY THE
LOVE FOR GOD
• Psalm 18:1 “I love you, Lord my strength.”
• Psalm 63:1 “O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you; my soul thirst for
you, my body longs for you, in a dry land
and weary land where there is no water.”
2. A HEART OBEDIENT TO GOD
- Acts 13:22
After removing Saul, he made David their king.
God testified concerning him:
“I have found David son of Jesse, a man after
my own heart; he will do everything I want
him to do.’
3. A HEART THAT REALLY
LOVE THE WORD OF GOD
• Psalm 19:7-11 The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are
trustworthy, making wise the simple. The
precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the
heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
3. A HEART THAT REALLY
LOVE THE WORD OF GOD
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring
forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm,
and all of them are righteous. 10 They are
more precious than gold, than much pure
gold; they are sweeter than honey, than
honey from the honeycomb.

•By them your servant is warned; in
keeping them there is great reward.
Psalms 119:97 Oh, how I love your law!
I meditate on it all day long.

David was greatly distressed because the men
were talking of stoning him; each one was
bitter in spirit because of his sons and
daughters. But David found strength in the
Lord his God.

-Psalm 51:3 For I know my transgression, and

have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied,
“The Lord has taken away your sin. You are
not going to die.

WORSHIPPING A HEART
- 1 Chronicles 29:10-12
David praised the Lord in the presence of the
whole assembly, saying, “Praise be to you,
Lord, the GOD of our father Israel, from
everlasting to everlasting.
Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the
splendor, for everything in heaven and
earth is yours.
Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are
exalted as head over all.
Wealth and honor come from you,
you are the ruler of all things. In
your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.
6. A THANKFUL AND WORSHIPPING HEART
Psalm 34:1 I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
Psalm 86:12 I will praise you, Lord my God,
with all my heart; I will glorify your name
forever.
CONCLUSION
“A man after GOD’s own heart is a
man who yearns to please God, a man
who desire to grow spiritually. A
man who had a heart that obeys”
