THE TWO TYPES OF PHYSICAL FITNESS
COMPONENTS:
Health related fitness- involves exercise
activities that you do in order to try to improve
your physical health and stay healthy.

Skill-related fitness- refers to abilities that help


you learn athletic skills.
HEALTH-RELATED COMPONENTS OF
PHYSICAL FITNESS
THERE ARE FIVE COMPONENTS OF PHYSICAL FITNESS:
Body Composition - is the ratio of fat to muscle, bone, and other tissues
in a person’s body.
Flexibility - refers to the ability of muscles, joints, and soft tissues to
move through an unrestricted, pain-free range of motion.

Muscular Strength - the ability to exert force against a resistance enabling


you and I to push, move or lift objects.
Muscular Endurance - the ability to continue contracting a muscle,
or group of muscles, against resistance, such as weights or body
weight, over a period of time.

Cardiorespiratory Endurance - heart and lungs to deliver oxygen to


working muscles during continuous physical activity, which is an
important indicator of physical health.
THE SIX SKILL RELATED
COMPONENTS OF FITNESS:
Agility - rapidly change body direction, accelerate, or decelerate. It
is influenced by balance, strength, coordination, and skill level.

Balance - athlete's ability to stay in controls of their body's


position

Coordination - use the senses together with body parts


during movement
Power - ability to overcome resistance in the shortest
period of time leading to the ability to produce higher
velocities against a given load.

Reaction Time and Speed - reach or respond quickly to


what you hear, see, or feel. For speed ability to move the
body in one direction as fast as possible.
