Introduction to Nepal
The federal Democratic Republic of Nepal also known as Nepal is a country in south Asia.
It is a landlocked country with many different culture, religion, food, ethnicity etc. Nepal
was also ranked in 8th position on the list of top 10 countries to visit. Nepal’s capital city
is Kathmandu.

MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN

Both Nepal and Japan are countries that are


famous for their mountainous terrain. Japan has
the Japanese Alps while Nepal is home to the
Himalayas. Japan is home to the famous
mountain mt. Fuji and Nepal is home to the
tallest peak in the entire world mt. Everest .
Celebration of Buddha's birthday
Nepal and Japan both are countries that have people
who believe in a variety of religions, one of them
being Buddism. In buddism there is a festival that is
celebrated to mark the birth, enlightenment and death
of the god Buddha. This festival is celebrated in Japan
as Hana Matsuri and in Nepal this festival is
celebrated as budda jayanti.
Daily food
• The people of Nepal and Japan both
eat rice as a daily food and it is a big
part of their meals. They use fresh
ingredients and have special flavors.
Even though their dishes are
different, the importance of rice is a
common thread that connects the
daily food culture in both countries.
Seismic Activity
• Seismic Activity is basically the ground shaking
also known as earthquakes. Nepal and Japan both
are countries that experience earthquakes from
time to time. Japan and Nepal both have
earthquakes because they're on the Earth's shaky
parts. The ground moves, and it can be really
strong. In both places, people need to be ready for
these shakes and make strong buildings to stay
safe from the ground moving.

Nepal’s Ethnicity
Nepal has many ethnic group. All the ethnic groups have different cultures, festivals, food,
dress etc. Some of the ethnic groups are: Newar, Tharu, Tamang, Gurung etc.

Nepal is a diverse country with more than 125 ethnic groups. Although, it is a small
country, it has amazed people by its amount of ethnic groups and culture. Some of the
cultural dresses are:

NEPAL’S HISTORY AND FACTS
Prithvi Narayan Shah was the first ruler of "unified" Nepal. However, prior to
1768, the modern-day Nepal consisted of various small kingdoms, among which
Shah Kings continued to rule in a few of them (notably in Gorkha). Prithvi
Narayan Shah was the last ruler of the Gorkha Kingdom and first monarch of the
Kingdom of Nepal. Prithvi Narayan Shah started the unification of Nepal. Prithvi
Narayan Shah is considered the Father of the Nation in Nepal. The crimson red is
Nepal's national color, and it indicates the brave spirits of the Nepalese people.
The two triangles symbolize the Himalaya Mountains and represent the two
major religions, Hinduism and Buddhism. The red triangular flag has been a
Hindu symbol of victory since the time of Ramayan and Mahabharat.Nepal is the
country of the Mount Everest, the highest mountain peak in the world, and the

This is momo. Momo is basically dumplings that
originated from Nepal. It's a special snack made of
dough filled with minced meat or vegetables. People
wrap them into shapes and steam or fry them. Momo
is an extremely well known and tasty snack in Nepal.
If you go around and ask people of Nepal if they
have tried momo, almost everyone will say yes. You
can dip them in sauce for better taste.

Nepal is a multicultural nation where diverse festivals are joyfully celebrated within
communities. Some of the most important festivals in Nepal include:
1. Dashain: This 10-day-long festival is the most auspicious festival in the Nepalese annual
calendar and is celebrated by Nepalese Hindu people throughout the globe. It symbolizes
the victory of good over evil and is celebrated in September or October.
2. Tihar: Also known as the festival of lights, Tihar is a five-day festival that is considered to be of
great importance as it shows reverence to not just the humans and the Gods, but also to the
animals like crow, cow, and dog, who maintain an intense relationship with the humans.
3. Buddha Purnima: This festival celebrates the birth of Lord Buddha and is celebrated by
Buddhists all over the world .
4. Lhosar: This festival is celebrated by the Tamang, Gurung, and Sherpa communities and marks
the beginning of the Tibetan New Year.
Holi: This festival is celebrated by the Hindu community and is also known
as the festival of colors 2.

This festival is celebrated by the Nepalese community and marks the beginn

Maha Shivaratri: This festival is celebrated by the Hindu community and is
dedicated to Lord Shiva

Chhath: This festival is celebrated by the Hindu community and is dedicated
to the Sun God 1.

Nepal with rich ancient cultures set against the most dramatic scenery in the world is

have their own religious heritage.
❖ Nepal is rich in cultural and natural diversity. There are 10 natural and cultural
heritages sites listed by UNESCO as a world heritage sites in Nepal. Pashupatinath,
Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Changunarayan, Kathmandu Durbar square, Bhaktapur
Durbar square and Patan Durbar Square are listed in the world cultural heritage list.
❖ As UNESCO World Heritage Sites, each of these places have a wealth of fascinating
culture, history or simply pure natural beauty and diversity to offer.
❖ One of the most sacred Hindu temples in the world, Pashupatinath is a millennia old
temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Natural Heritage
❖ UNESCO has identified ten historical sites of Nepal as World Heritage Sites. Among
them, 8 are cultural heritage sites with centuries-long historical backgrounds, while 2
are natural heritage sites.
❖ Nepal is home to the tallest mountain in the world Mount Everest which is also known
as the peak of the world with the height of 8848.86 meter.
❖ With 15 National & Wildlife Parks Nepal is one of the last places on earth you can spot
the Asiatic rhinoceros and the Royal Bengal Tiger.
❖ There are more than 6 thousand water resources such as ponds, rivers, lakes in Nepal

development.
