OVERVIEW OF PROJECT
 The idea of developing this project comes from social
responsibility towards the society. Bike riding is a lot of fun, but
accidents happen. People choose motor bikes over car as it is much
cheaper to run, easier to repair, easier to park and flexible in traffic
Nowadays there are many programs and applications help to
control things better using codes and python algorithms.
 In India more than 37 million people are using two wheelers. Since
usage is high accident percentage of two wheelers are also high
compared to four wheelers. Motorcycles have high rate of fatal
accidents than cars or trucks and buses.
 The main purpose of the project is to
encourage wearing helmet. The system will
ensure that the motorbike will not start unless
the rider is wearing a helmet and has not
consumed alcohol. Thus alcohol detection is
also an important part in this project. Alcohol
detections done by MQ-3 sensor and helmet
detections done by switches.
IMPACT ON LIFEST YLE

 Helmet is no more a burden for the youth if we can

give design that youngsters like and align to their
personality.
 As without helmet bike will be not started and same
as for drinking alcohol so that safety ensured
FLOWCHART OF PROJECT
ABOUT HARDWARE USED
AURDINO UNO
 ARDUINO: - Arduino UNO is a
microcontroller board based on
the ATmega328P. It has 14 digital
input/output pins (of which 6 can be used
as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16
MHz ceramic resonator, a USB
connection, a power jack, an ICSP header
and a reset button. It contains everything
needed to support the microcontroller;
simply connect it to a computer with a
USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC
adapter or battery to get started.
MQ-3 ALCOHOL SENSOR

 MQ-3 ALCOHOL SENSOR:

- This module is made using
Alcohol Gas Sensor MQ3. It
is a low cost semiconductor
sensor which can detect the
presence of alcohol gases at
concentrations from 0.05
mg/L to 10 mg/L. The
sensitive material used for
this sensor is SnO2, whose
conductivity is lower in clean
air.
RELAY MODULE

 RELAY MODULE: - The

relay module is an
electrically operated switch
that can be turned on or off
deciding to let current flow
through or not. They are
designed to be controlled
with low voltages like 3.3V
like the ESP32, ESP8266,
etc, or 5V like your Arduino.
RF MODULE

 RF MODULE: - RF modules
(Radio Frequency module)
are electronic devices used to
transmit and/or receive radio
signals between two devices.
RF modules operate at Radio
Frequency of 20 kHz to 300
GHz. An RF module
comprises of an RF
Transmitter and an RF
Receiver.
MOTOR DRIVER MODULE

 MOTOR DRIVER MODULE: -

In this module, the rotation
directions of motors are
controlled by Motor Control Pin.
The IN1 and IN2 are controlling
Motor 1 while IN3 and IN4 are
controlling Motor 2. Beside
motor rotate direction, this
Motor Driver Module is able to
control motors' speed as well by
Motor PWM Control Pin.
GEARO MOTOR

 GEARO- MOTOR: - A DC
motor is any motor within a
class of electrical machines
whereby direct current
electrical power is converted
into mechanical power.
METHODOLOGY OF PROJECT
 The project is divided into two units
namely helmet and bike.
 In helmet unit, also called the
transmitter the Micro-Switch is
placed on inside upper part of the
helmet where actually head will
touch with switch and push it after
wearing helmet and alcohol sensor is
placed on in front of rider’s mouth so
that it can sense easily. Batteries are
mounted on the body of helmet.
Secondary controller and RF
transmitter circuit were also placed
on the body of helmet.
 The receiver unit shown in Figure
2 is placed in the bike. The RF
receiver accepts all the data from
the helmet (i.e. transmitter) unit.
Depending on the conditions, if
true, the ignition starts and bike
moves. And if false then the
motor arduino sends low t motor
driver module that stops the
motor (Ignition off in cased of
bike). The same thing also
happens when helmet is not wear
by the drive
ADVANTAGES
 It can be used in real time safety system.
 The designed Smart helmet ensures the safety of the
rider by making it necessary to wear helmet.
 It can be designed for less power consuming safety
system.
 This safety system technology can further be
enhanced in car or other vehicle by replacing the
helmet with seat belt
DISADVANTAGES
 High cost- This cost more than normal helmet.
 Emergency- In emergency if driver not have helmet
than this system will cause problems.
FURTHER ENHANCEMENT
AND FUTURE SCOPE
 We can implement various bioelectric sensors on the
helmet to measure various activities.
 We can use small camera for the recording the drivers
activity. It can be used for passing message from the
one vehicle to another vehicle by using wireless
transmitter.
CONCLUSION
 The designed Smart helmet ensures the safety of the
rider by making it necessary to wear helmet, and also
ensures that the rider hasn’t consumed alcohol more
than the permissible limit. If any of these prime safety
rules are violated, the proposed system will prevent the
biker from starting the bike. The system also helps in
efficient handling of the aftermath of accidents by
sending a SMS with the location of the biker to the
police station. This ensures that the victims get proper
and prompt medical attention, if he/she met with an
accident.
