Presentation Matrix

The document discusses different types of matrices including column, row, square, diagonal, scalar, identity and null matrices. It also covers matrix operations such as addition, subtraction and multiplication. The key points are that matrices must have the same dimensions to be added or multiplied, and inverse matrices only exist for square matrices.

THERE ARE 7 MAJOR TYPES OF
MATRICES  IDENTITY MATRIX

 NULL/ ZERO MATRIX

Column Matrix

COMUMN • A column matrix is one type of matrix.

In this matrix, the elements are arranged

MATRIX in a number of rows and but in one

column.
• Example_
Lorep ipsum duis aute irure dolor in kauselih oiluek epreh

Row Matrix

ROW • A column matrix is one type of matrix.

In this matrix, the elements are arranged

MATRIX in only one row and a number of

columns.
• Example_

Square Matrix

SQUARE • A column matrix is a Matrix with the

same number of rows and columns

Diagonal Matrix

DIAGONAL • Any given square Matrix where all the

elements are zero except of the elements

MATRIX that are present diagonally is called a

Diagonal Matrix.
• Example_

Scalar Matrix

SCALAR • A scalar Matrix is a square matrix in

which all the off-diagonal elements are

MATRIX zero and all the on-diagonal elements are

equal.
• Example_
Lorep ipsum duis aute irure dolor in kauselih oiluek epreh
deriti vols esse cill inure dolorlaboru sit amet. Duis autelo

Identity Matrix

IDENTITY • Identity Matrix is a special kind of

diagonal matrix in which all the non zero

MATRIX elements are 1[one].

• Example_

Lorep ipsum duis aute irure dolor in kauselih oiluek epreh

deriti vols esse cill inure dolorlaboru sit amet. Duis autelo

Null/ Zero Matrix

NULL/ ZERO • A rectangular matrix in which all

elements are zero [0] is known to be a

MATRIX null or zero matrix.

• Example_

Matrix Addition
Addition of matrix is the basic
operation performed to add two or
more matrices. Matrix addition is
possible only if the order of the
given matrices are the same. By
order I mean, the number of rows
and columns are the same of the
matrices. Hence we can add the
corresponding elements of the
matrices.
The Best Collaboration 2019
Matrix Subtraction

• Matrix subtraction is exactly the

same as matrix addition.
Subtraction of matrices refers to
the subtraction of corresponding
elements of two or more matrices.
Subtraction of matrices is a
process of subtracting the
corresponding elements of the
matrices.
The Best Collaboration 2019
Matrix Multiplication

• Matrix multiplication is only

possible when two matrices
are same dimentions. Then
multiply the 2nd matrix
column by the 1st matrix row.

Inverse Matrix
• As usual the notion of inverse matrix
has been developed in the context of
matrix multiplication. Every nonzero
number possesses an inverse with respect
to the operation number multiplication

• Definition: Let 'M' be any square matrix.

An inverse matrix of 'M' is denoted by
'M-¹' and is such a matrix that MM-¹= m-
¹m=in Matrix 'M' is said to be invertible if
M-¹ exists. Non-square matrices do not
