4.CONCLUSION
INTODUCTION

 According to a reort by WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION(WHO), APPROXIMATELY 1.1 billion

people lack
access to clean drinking water. Out of the 4 million annual cases of diarrheal diseases ,88% is the
result
of contaminated water is the reason that 1.8 million people die from diarrheal diseases every year.

 WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION estimates that 91% of these problem can be prevented by
drinking clean water Considering this factor ,it is important to use advanced water filtration technologies
to remove impurities and
make water safe for consumption .
Problem statement
FILTERING WATER USING
NANOTECHNOLOGY
PROCESSE
S USED
It sounds scientific to
ordinary citizens like us
but simply put,it kill
bacteria and breaks down
organic compounds using
the titanium oxide
technology instead
polymer based water
filtration sytem.
LIFESTRAW

 The Lifestraw is a water filter designed to be used by one person to filter water
For drinking.
 It removes almost water borne bacteria and parasites .It filters a maximum of 4000
Litres of water , enoughbfor one person for three years.
 The lifestraw is a plastic tube 22cm long and 3cm in diameter .
APPLICATION
TATASWACH

FEATURES:

 Uses Silver Nanotechnology to effectively removes

harmful bacteria and various.

 Tata Swach Bulb : High purifiaction capacity of 3000

litres .

 7.5+7.5 litres storage capacity

 No electricity and no running water required

Purification System

 Mesh 1 and Mesh 2: Micro –mesh

system that removes the minutest
visible impurities and make water
clean &clear

 Mesh 3: Unique detachable

component : Ensures clear &pure
water ,even when subjected to avery
high levels of dirty water .

 TATA Swach Bulb: Contains unique

internationally tested TSRF ^TM
Technology that destroys harmful
bacteria and viruses.
BIOFILTRATION
SYSTEM

 A biofilter is a bed of media on which

microorganism attach and grow to form
a biological layer called biofilm.

 The biofilm is formed by a commmonly

of different microorganism
(bacteria,fungi,yeast,etc),macro-
organism(protozoa,worms,insect’s
larvae ,etc).
Treatment process

 Organic matter and other water

components diffuse into biofilm where
the tretament occurs ,mostly by
biodegradable . Biofiltration processes
are usually aerobic,which means that
microoraganism require oxygen for
their metabolism .oxygen can be
supplies eitehr concurrently or counter
currently with water flow.

 Aeration occcurs passively by the

natural flow of air through the process
( three phase biofilter)or by forced air
supplied by blowers.
SUNSPRING
SYSTEM

 Sunspring is aporatble Solar and

Wind Powered ,Self Contained
Microbiological Water Purification
System capable of producing up to
and exceeding 20000litres per day.
HOW DOES SUNSPRING FILTER
WORKS
HOW PHOTOCATALYTIC
DEGRADATION OCCUR?(PCD)
MECHANISM OF PHOTOCATALYTIC
PROCESS

 When photocatalytic titanium dioxide absorbs Ultra violet radiation from sun light
or illuminated light source ,it will produce a pair of electron and holes.

 The electron of the valence band titanium dioxide becomes excited when illuminated
By light.

 The excess energy of this excited electron promoted the electron to the conduction band
of titanium oxide .This stage is reffered to as the semiconductors photo-excited state.

 The positive –hole of titanium dioxide breaks apart the water molecule tonform hydrogen
Gas and hydroxyl radical. The negative –electron reacts with oxygen molecule to form
super oxide anion. This cycle continues when light is available.
CONCLUSION

 Current water treatment &distribution system have a lot of drawbacks.

 Nanotechnology has the potentia to replace them and increase the efficiency.

 Nano engineering can enable practical solutions to unmet needs.

 Development of cost effective nanomaterials with proven non toxicity effects on

Environment could revoltionize water treatment doamain.

 Solar light in place of UV light lamp can be used to reduce the pollutants.
