¿WHAT IS BASKETBALL?
It is a sport known around the world. The
players have to carry the ball to the end of
the court and try to put it into the basket as
much as possible. The shots has different
points in differents distances between the
basket and the player. It happen equaly with
different situations.
Basketball is a very famous sport in United States of America. It is followed in other
places as Southamerica and Europe. For years, there have been tournaments as National
Leagues and many World Cup’ editions. Basketball is also an olympic sport.

· European teams play the Euroleague.
· And Liga Endesa (Spanish League) is the very followed.

BASKETBALL ORIGINS
This sport was born at Springfield, Massachusetts (USA), in 1891. Its father was professor
James Naismith. In 1932, the Internatinoal Basketball Federation was created. And, in
1946, the National Baskeball Association starts its first season.

NBA is the most important basketball tournament in the world. It is played by 30
teams divided in two conferences (East and West) and six divisions (Southwest,

play against each other to be as higher as possible in the conferences standing. The
first eight are classified for the playoff round.
After this, in playoffs are eliminatory series that the best teams must overcome. The
Finals of the NBA are played between the best team in the East Conference and the
best team in the West Conference. The result of this round determines the NBA
Champions of the season. The prizes are a cup for the team and a special ring for
each member of the squad.
