CATCH UP FRIDAYS-READING

(Teacher’s Guide)
LEARNING AREA: TLE 7
Phase 1: PRE-READING ACTIVITY

• Allotted Time: 7:30-8:30


• ACTIVITY: SPIN THE BOTTLE
• BOTH INTERVENTION AND ENHANCEMENT GROUP
Direction: The teacher will spin first the bottle then

the one who will be pointed will spell the word
which will be read by the teacher.

• SPELL THE FOLLOWING WORDS
• Computer - communication
• Technology - invented
• Robotics - advantage
• Internet - knowledge
• Advantage -benefit
• ACTIVITY 2: VOCABULARY WORDS
• Direction: Using your dictionary, look at the meaning of the
word given above. Write it in your Reading Notebook.
Phase 2: DURING READING ACTIVITY

• 8:30-9:30
• I Do, You Do, We Do!
Activity:

The teacher will read first the text
II. You Do
Silent Reading with the guide of teacher
III. We Do
Choral Reading
Students will be divided into 2 groups
(Intervention group and Enhancement Group), and
they will read according to the number of the
Paragraph they were assigned.
Paragraph 1,3,5-Intervention Group
Paragraph 2,4,6- Enhancement Group
After reading, let the learners write the
words that they could not understand on the
text. Write the words in their Reading
Notebook.
Expansion of Technology

• Arthur and Luna are best friends. Arthur was using his computer to
play games, and suddenly his computer was lagging. Luna enters
and sees him worried. Arthur says, “Why does this computer
malfunction at times?” Luna says, “Everyone makes mistakes, and
nothing in this world is perfect, not even a computer! Arthur ads by
saying, technology ought to make life simpler.” Luna replied,
“Indeed, it does. Some claim technology has enhanced our lives by
simplifying daily tasks speedily.” Luna tries to explain to him how
technology has been helpful to humans, especially the internet.
• Arthur understands this by relating it to their
situation and how after having such advanced
technology, people have time to spend with their
loved ones, bettering themselves and engaging in
their hobbies! Luna illustrates how we can grow
food on our own and even wash our clothes much
more effortlessly. Both of them laughed about
how the world is changing and advancing
robotics and mechanisation.
• The next day, Arthur was upset about not being
able to talk to his Grandpa! He wanted to write
letters but was worried about how time-consuming
it was to reach him. Luna came and saw him being
sad about this. She brought her mother’s phone
and asked him to call his Grandpa! Arthur was
surprised about technology making
communication and expressing feelings so
trouble-free.
• Arthur was confused that if technology has so
many benefits, it has some negative points
too, like we humans have become very lazy
since the technology was invented. Luna
agrees with him about how there are
disadvantages, too, along with advantages.
• After their summer holidays, Arthur and Luna
got assignments on a constellation project.
Arthur panicked about how he would research
this topic without prior knowledge. Luna
helped him out by introducing him to the
internet. Arthur was delighted about finding
everything on the internet.
• They submitted the project and came first
in the class! Arthur and Luna got the
importance of technology and how it has
been a blessing to human life.
Phase 3: POST READING ACTIVITY

• 9:45-10:45
• Both Intervention and Enhancement Group!
Activity:
• Divide the class into 4 groups
• Group I: Create a song about the importance of
computer
• Group II: Perform a dance about computer
• Group III: Make a poem about computer
technology
• Group IV: Draw a poster about computer
technology
POST READING ACTIVITY

• 10:45-11:45
• Both Intervention and Enhancement Group:
• Activity: Presentation of Output/Activity
• Direction: The learners will present their output in
front.
