1. Accident investigation and analysis
• The first step of accident investigation and analysis should be done by thorough
investigations to bring to light previously undetected hazards that may be corrected on the
jobs in which the accidents occurred similar jobs through the plant.

• Failure to investigate a fatal accident thoroughly could cause an other employee to enter a
vital death trap. Ofcourse, learning by experience is the hard way, but when easier systems
prove inadequate, it may be the only remaining alternative.

• When conducting an investigation, the analyst should not stop after finding one cause to
account for the accident under study. Experience has shown that in most instances a
multiplicity of unsafe conditions and combine to cause mishaps. All may be important and
should beanalysed.

• Investigation is to bring forth facts which can be used in preventing
other or recurring accidents.

• Investigations helps to find out which unsafe act or procedure causes


the accident. A thorough analysis of the situation gives the remedial
measures.
2. Apprising job safety analysis &
plant safety inspection
1. Job safety analysis

• A properly trained safety engineer can prevent innumerable accidents through


the analysis of each job in the plant from a safety point of view, Ofcourse,
methods analysts also would be watching the safety features of jobs which they
study for purposes of process planning and motion economy.

• Records show that the method analyst breaks a job down its elements to analyse
individual motion and their time value, a safety analyst looks in each work
station and watch the duty of each operators to unearth possible hazards.
2. Plant safety inspection

• The job of providing a safe work a area is only begun.

• Constant inspection should be performed formally by the agement personnel and the
workers themselves.

• In addition to improving a plants safety records, periodic inspection can contribute to


effective eventive maintenance and the improvement of product quality and production
efficiency.

• Full report should be submitted to the plant manager and the operating personnel at the
end of each formal inspection in order that recommended corrective actions can be taken.
3. Placement of workers
The worker should be assigned the jobs according to their:

1) Age and health

2) Mental stability

3) Educational qualification, skill and experience

4) Punctuality in using the safety devices

5) Proper attitude towards works

6) Habits

7) Exposure to risk
