 A newspaper that espoused the relatively liberal
views of the filipino propaganda movement
which sought to reform in the Spanish Colony
of the Philippines.
 A propaganda movement organized or headed
by Marcelo H. Del Pilar, Jose Rizal, Graciano
Lopez Jaena, Mariano Ponce and others.

 Rizal served as the inspiration of the


educated Filipino’s.
 He was accepted as the “anak ng bayan”
as their messiah who like Jesus Christ,
redeemed the people from sin in order to
obtain a life that was free from physical
and emotional abuses.

The Katipunan

 Also referred as the Kataastaasang Kagalanggalangan


Katipunan ng mga anak ng Bayan (KKK).
 It gave significance to the struggle of the nation for
independence during the Spain colonization.
 The katipunan recruit their members using triangle
system where the katipunero (revolutionary) in the
triangle took in two new members who did not know
each other but both knew the katipunero.

 They used virtuals and symbols which showed the


importance it gave to popular traditions.
 The new members were blindfolded brought into a
dark area where their determination and courage
would be put to a test.
 New members underwent a mental exercise
answering questions and signing their name in blood.

 The aim of Katipunan was to awaken a


national sentiment to deliver the Filipino
Race from the abuses of Spain.

 The aim of the katipunan was for the


entire archipelago, stating that the
Tagalog language referred to all natives
of the archipelago.

 Political- It aim consisted in working for the separation

 Social - It aim revolved around the principle of self-help
and the defense of the poor and the oppressed.

La Ilustración Española y
Americana

 weekly Spanish magazine that was published from 1869 to


1921 on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 30th of every month. It was also
published biweekly.

 On February 8,1897,the La Ilustración Española y Americana


recognized and published the national status of Katipunan.
