Tardiness
Tardiness
• Students are deemed as the resource for every educational institution. They actively participate in the
learning journey absorb information and hone their thinking abilities.
• Tardiness, a common occurrence in educational institutions, has long been a concern for educators and
administrators. Although punctuality is often emphasized in educational settings, debate remains over the
extent to which tardiness directly impacts students` academic achievement.
• According to Taylor (2014) tardiness of every student has a big impact on their academic achievement. As
the tardiness increases, the chance that the student will pass the subject will be low.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
• According to Nakpodia and Dafiaghor (2013), the student is susceptible to more distractions and
hindrances along the way.
• Lack of a firm and consistent policy on punctuality also encourages students to come late to school since
there are no consequences attached to lateness or tardiness. These causes of tardiness will lead to serious
effects.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
• Cognitive Load Theory (CLT), which is defined as ‘our working memory is only able to hold a
small amount of information at any one time and that instructional methods should avoid
overloading it in order to maximize learning’ (Sweller, 1988).
• According to Behavioral Theory, ‘a person is first exposed to a stimulus, which elicits a response,
and the response is then reinforced’ (Skinner, 1938).
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
